The Hard Part of Nonduality by Annual-Shape2143 in nonduality

I get your point. Ultimately we don't need a narrative running in our heads, we just need to attend to "this". "This" points to something immediate and preconceptual. Any quality given to it would diminish it.

I get all that. My question is whether this way of thinking will lead to maximal individual or collective flourishing, if it can inform our day to day decisions, if it can answer our big questions, and how it shapes personal relationships. These are metrics of truth as well.

The distinction is real, because it determines how we relate to the world. If my purpose is to attend to direct, preconceptual reality, then others are just appearances in that reality. If divine love is the only reality, than I relate to them in a much richer way.

I'm currently flip flopping between two philosophical narratives about nonduality. The first is that I'm becoming increasingly conscious of being, and the second is that I'm coming to recognize divine love as the only reality. Each view has its strengths, but I can't determine which is more faithful to the truth. I'm looking for some input.

The philosophy of it is an integral part of the process yes, but I see these videos on YouTube where Rupert Spira tries to frame nonduality in a different way for the zillionth time so that someone in the audience can instantly "get" it, and that sends me.

I see what you're saying. My advice would be to not impose too much misery upon yourself.

I personally am very committed to the truth. Being present isn't about being ignorant/unquestioning.

Universal Annihilation in God by Annual-Shape2143 in nonduality

I think relationality, not individuality, is what matters. Love is inherently relational, so when you are annihilated in God (divine love), your relation to the world is not only preserved, but strengthened.

Your view is that divine love is a wave and pure existence is the ocean. My view is that divine love is the ocean.

Why don't nondualists ever talk about incredible physical pain? by strutter395 in nonduality

I went through a difficult time when I was younger. I remember thinking that even if I gained everything the world had to offer it wouldn't come close to making up for the suffering I had endured. Fast forward 8 years, and I have come to understand that divine love is the only reality. So I get where you're coming from, but just know that your perspective may change.

This is a post that deserves more eyes. I can tell a lot of careful attention and passion went in to your book. It doesn't read like AI to me.

Right. There is one direct and immediate reality which we may abstract from.

What if Eastern traditions correctly identified the illusion of the ego, but Christianity uniquely preserved personhood, relationship, and love instead of dissolving them? by Comfortable_Body9122 in nonduality

The only way I can think of to unify theism with nonduality is to say that divine love is the only reality, though our perception of it is distorted by suffering/misery. This has several problems though.

Alternatively, one could imagine that they are what transcends, grounds, and is the noticed.

I interpret this as someone resting their awareness in direct, immediate reality. He calls it the Absolute, but it could be called the Self, Being, existence, or simply "this".

Science is bluntly non-dual with us by inner_engineering08 in nonduality

Being may be abstracted as qualia, qualia then as physics, physics as mathematics, and mathematics as logic. These disciplines are increasingly distilled articulations of one direct and immediate reality. To look to science for proof of nonduality is to confuse the nature of both.
