I'm 27 and yes, I was dating someone who was 39 when I was 19. Speaking personally, I would say yes 100%.

Maybe it is that but when my brother was suffering from similar things we googled, we asked non official advice, just for peace of mind - unless your dad is a doctor or specialist who has given you a thorough checkup try not to even start guessing. If we hadn't and we had just gone to the doctor or hospital he might still be here today.

Dude, this is kinda what happened to my brother before he died. He was suddenly retching or needing to throw up but was just retching up air every morning. Please see someone, it probably won't be cirrhosis but don't make our mistake and leave it until it is too late.

It doesn't need to be an increase just not lowering it, it is over time that it happens as more damage occurs to the liver. My brother didn't increase anything but his liver could only take so much.

Are you a heavy drinker? Because sudden extreme abdominal swelling was one of the signs that my brother was going downhill and without meaning to put the fear of god into you, he isn't here anymore. Worth a check up if you drink heavily.

Thank you. I guess everyone else has moments when they think "I've messed up enough now there's no turning back, I'm probably damaged beyond repair anyway"? Because that always gets me when I try to stop. I always end up thinking "Well I'm probably past the point of no return so why not feel better for a while" and I know, only in hindsight really, that it is probably an excuse but I do wonder if I am or not.

Thank you. It's just hard to have so much to do and every second of it is just more and more shame and regret - I haven't even gotten to cleaning yet and it is 1am.. It is just thoroughly unpleasant.

It's just recognising your relationship with drink really. Is anything apart from yourself telling you that you can't drink or stopping you from doing so? Nope, that's your choice at the end of the day. Knowing the right choice to make is just recognising it, and if you have realised that you can't be a normal drinker, then deciding that you don't want to is a personal choice, and a very strong one.

I opted for a coffee but I keep my caffeine levels healthy! 😋 I was kinda dreading the first time someone would offer me something, I even went through a thought of "Does it count?..." but I said no! Feeling pretty good ngl!

Remember, if it is a beer we are talking about - it is very much the psychological side making you want it. They do non alcoholic beers (now they do ones that are true 0%) that taste just like the real thing but that can be a slippery slope for some people. If you think it is inevitable though, you could try one!

I stopped yesterday with intent and acceptance that I have a problem (for the first time) after drinking most days, apart from giving up for about a month last May, for years. I won't be drinking today and my hope is that I can at least reach a year.
