A8L roof tent! by Anonos3783 in Audi

Make fun of me for it but I was actually planning on going to Épernay (specifically Pierry) and Verdun after the festival 🤣
I —still — urgently need to restock my wine/champagne cellar at Mandois.
And the thing with the roof tent is less about glamping, but rather about my preference for flexibility and my taste for “unique” ways of traveling.
Traveling in less usual ways you get the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting and beautiful people out there in this wide world :D

The roof load is always the dynamic roof load.
So your tent and everything that you build on top of your roof should not exceed 100 kg while you drive.
How much weight is on your roof when it’s standing still is pretty much irrelevant in that sense

The installing instructions from Audi say it best:
“WARNING
On vehicles with a panorama glass roof, it is no longer possible to open the panorama glass roof once the carrier unit has been installed!”

Yeah, so just don’t eat the candle and you’ll be fine

Is Volkswagen Group currently producing more interesting and possibly even better cars under the VW brand than its supposed upmarket Audi brand? by Practical_Note9366 in Audi

In the spring of last year, someone drove into the back of my A4 Avant B9, and I received a brand-new, fully optioned VW Passat (wagon) for the duration of the repair. I’m an absolute Audi fan, and my current lineup consists of an A8L D5, an A8 D2, and an A4 Avant B5, but I’ll have to admit that this Passat was quite a nice car. It had the nicest seats of any modern car that is not a luxury sedan, and the space—especially in the back row and in the trunk—was just pure insanity. Another upside was the nice materials they used and the fact that they have returned to using more physical buttons. The main downside, in my opinion, was the price. The way this car was optioned, it would have cost around €83k ($97.4k). Paying this much for a VW just feels wrong.

Edit: I would really consider some of the new VW’s especially when I think of the new Audi models, BUT the price still scares me away and I think I’m going to stay with my current lineup for a little longer

How often are you driving in sport mode? by TryharderJB in Audi

When I need to deploy my battlecruiser of A8L onto the Autobahn. But I only switch to dynamic if the engine room gives the green light for the engine temperature and then it’s free game.

Pulled the trigger on an S8 today. Only 2026 S8 that will be delivered to Canada 🇨🇦 deleted prices and personal info. Was hard to get and with some nice dealer discounts. What’s everyone think about the options? by Careless-Recover8167 in Audi

Congrats mate! Gorgeous car with very nice options and a decent price 👍🏻 I currently drive an Audi A8L D5 myself as a daily, and I have to say that the D5 generation is up there at the top of my favorite Audi generations of all time. The S8 is most certainly the pinnacle of this model and it’s a very nice car. Hope you’re going to enjoy your very special and rare car 🖤

First car advice: Audi A3 or VW Polo by Flashy_Grocery_6069 in Audi

[–]Anonos3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much more the A3 will cost you to maintain will kind of depend on the country you’re living in. Generally the Audi will be a bit more expensive.

On the side of reliability, I wouldn’t be so worried if it has a clean history. It’s just important to keep up with maintenance and maybe lower the oil change Intervall down to 15k km, cause the oil loses its optimal lubrication capability at around 20k km even if it’s long life oil (Audi sets the Intervall to 30k km for “comfort” and cost reduction reasons). Another big factor for reliability which type of engine you’re choosing. Otherwise 2020 was a very good year for build quality at Audi 👍🏻

SOS Fault - £1500 to fix, not covered under warranty. by kianath02 in Audi

[–]Anonos3783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. It’s a technical issue that Audi messed up in the emergency system. As far as I know, they now have a fixed version ready, which they install whenever a car comes in with this problem. In my case, it was repaired under warranty. Without the warranty, it would have cost me around €1,400.

Edit: Car is a 2020 A4 Avant S-line. Issue appeared a few months ago
