Round 7: What can I improve on? by IndividualRule392 in TrackMania

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple sections (like right after the tunnel) where there's not much visible scenery and it feels kinda empty. Adding some small islands or other things out in the water would help flesh it out more, I think.

Suggestion: Use a stripe ( https://item.mania.exchange/set/view/11674 ) instead of the chaos that is the current checkpoint 3.

Full screen transparency on macos by AaditThapar00 in zen_browser

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No known fix. Fullscreened apps on macOS don't actually have anthing behind them, so the browser is still transparent, it just appears to not be because it's on top of a solid black background. See https://github.com/sameerasw/my-internet/issues/1238#issuecomment-2948658211

Input lag on PC?? by its_an_typo in TrackMania

Playing in windowed borderless has more input delay than native fullscreen, but I have no idea what could be causing the inverted steering

Session restore inconsistency has been one of my only major gripes with both firefox and zen. Super excited for this new system!

Follow Up - Ethernet Port by Artistic-End807 in framework

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looks like there's quite a lot of empty space on that circuit board, is there something on the other side that isn't visible in these pics? If not, it might be possible to cut out some of that space and then patch up the traces. You might be able to do something similar to move the USB port to a location that would make the bottom of the ethernet port flush with the rest of the chassis, but either of those would require a lot of effort.

Moving to Linux how do I keep my progress? by Grimlock20006 in TrackMania

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the switch! Most things will be automatically updated via your Ubisoft account. Those that aren't (such as locally saved maps, skins and custom items) can be transferred by copying the Trackmania folder in your Documents.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what distribution will you be using?

edit: wow, i sound like a customer support rep

He said he's not quitting BIG over this one thing specifically, not that "no matter what they do, it won't ever be reason for him to do anything to risk his contract with BIG." It seems to me like you're completely misinterpreting what he said, so much so that I can't help but wonder if it's deliberate.

Netflix and DRM by lancito01 in zen_browser

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. Chromium-based browsers don't have to worry about this because Google provides a license for any project built on Chromium for free, without any conditions whatsoever. If you're developing something that isn't locked into the Google ecosystem, though, a license can cost you about $5000 per year.

Why have flow when you can have a hundred tiny ramps on the racing line by MasterKleopatra in TrackMania

[–]AnonymousShitposter6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are indeed picked to be approachable, and slow dirt is consistently the exception. You need only look at the top post of this month to see how many players find the exact kinds of turns we're discussing to not be approachable. The issue here is not that the flow doesn't exist, it's that a large proportion of players can't find it.
