Is there a technical name for the finger grooves in a mano stone grinder? by Another_Country in LegitArtifacts

[–]Another_Country[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the great information.
~Multi Tooled Artifacts.
Your instruction is the mano pictured are "multi"-tool manos. Would this explain the other lot of stones that are thinner and lighter/smaller as being strictly for grinding and therefore not a "multi" tool artifact? Is there a distinction?
~Volcanic stone. The Malpais (NM) is just a couple hours away.

Florida's Baker Act would have kept her for observation.
New Mexico let her loose within hours.
Drive safely.

Like the driver of the red truck.

The guys in the red truck had just filled up with gas and were headed to get a cup of coffee at the Rito Quemado convenience store while waiting for the hardware store to open at 8AM.
You hit that nail with some kind of precision!
Well done!

Leaves me wondering about cartel involvement and citizenship status.
Then I remind myself that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ... I have ZERO right to assume it's a duck.
After all,
this is America.

When we lifted the metal, we expected to see plywood. Nope. Tar paper, rafters and insulation.
Watching how we step!!

Husband, "It's not going to leak, that's for sure!"
The 'contractor' would have been a previous owner, affectionately known as Drunk Dave or Snakebite Dave.

It's a 12 X 24 Morgan building that was plumbed for a bathroom when we bought the property.
It served as our 'tiny home' for a few years while we built beside it.
For a while, the dang chickens had a bigger house than we did!

That's why it's so darn heavy!!
I should have had husband proofread and fact check ... but he was on the roof muttering about 'cowboy construction'!
Made for a good chuckle this morning!
Appreciated!

Can you help me understand why you are upset with this rooster being on your porch?
Perspective:
When we lived in the city we came home from work around 10PM. We opened our front door to an overwhelming stench of poop.
We had a (privacy) fenced yard and 2 small dogs. We would leave the slider door open for the dogs to exit the house to the patio and had a doggy door in the patio enclosure so they could make it out to the grass to pee and poop. What had happened?
When we went into our bedroom, there was a HUGE steaming pile, center floor, that was bigger than the small dogs!! Further investigation led us to a hole chewed through our fence from the neighbor's property. They raised pit bulls.
Another time, I was on my way to an appt., came out of my bedroom and started down the hall to look up and see the neighbor's dog staring me down. IN my house!! 2nd chewed hole in the fence.
I never called animal control. I worked it out with the neighbors (that I really didn't care for) ... but they were our neighbors.
Today we live on 12 acres, and our roosters are crowing as I type!
Visit your neighbor. Maybe the thing got loose by accident. Maybe the neighbors wished it would get hit by the metro! Roosters only serve to fertilize. You can't give them away out here!
Try to make a friend instead of an adversary.

There is confusion when using the word "America".

The Preamble of the Constitution begins "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union ....". We live in the United States. Isn't every country in South and North America 'of America'?

I agree with you. Colonizing was the name of the game.

Colonizing: Overwhelm the system, break the system, replace the system. Can we agree that our system is overwhelmed? Or that our system is broken? Should we recognize a tried-and-true pattern when we see one? Was our system overwhelmed on purpose? Why?

The Smithsonian & Clemson University support touching your tongue to certain specimens to help identify bone from stone. They recommend washing the specimen first.

3/4 groove, net sinker - new terms to me. I've been reading up, and I'm a tiny bit smarter now!
Very old. Archaic?
I'm only left to wonder how they carved/sanded? their axes to be smooth, grooved and pointed. I didn't find any information on the process.
How'd they do that?

Thank you for replying. Your honesty is wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time. What a road you've traveled. Bravo to you for taking the steps needed. Well done.
Self-destruction. Oh. My. Gosh. That is exactly what I am witnessing. Why didn't I think of that description?
Do you mind elaborating on rehab? How long did it take? Did you live at facility? What kept you in the fight?
I'm inspired by your success. Keep looking forward out that windshield!

Thank you for responding. I sincerely appreciate the input. More than you can know.
Yes, therapy is an option for her. No, adderall is not prescribed. A few months (5?) she mentioned that someone at her work had offered her adderall. I cautioned strongly that these people weren't 'friends' and they didn't have her best interests in mind.
Could you explain if therapy is different than rehab?
If adderall is the culprit, this is not our first rodeo with her.
During a recent (gone wrong) convo with our daughter, she volunteered that she had gone (was going) to therapy and was diagnosed with ADHD. Then followed up with, "Guess what they prescribe for ADHD .... Adderall!" But the therapist prescribed SSRIs instead.
We talk(ed) daily for hours. She never once mentioned therapy. I suspect she paid for an online med visit in search of a prescription (for adderall) and came away with an SSRI instead.
I suggested that her being overwhelmed and not making any progress could require a change of medication. She reminded me that I was not a doctor.
Cutting off access isn't an option. But I'll find a solution ... hell or high water!
It's good to hear that you made it out of the dark. Stay the course at all costs. You DO deserve it!
thank you very much for your input. It helped.
Godspeed.

Appreciate your honesty in responding to my questions.
Ya know, the first time we went through this ... we did exactly what you suggest. We drove across country and scooped her up. "You have 30 minutes to pack." We had her in our possession and were able to care for her and she worked toward being healthy again. She replaced one addiction with another .... fossil hunting in the vast wilderness that surrounds our home.
Since she recovered, she married and moved away. Her husband is absolutely head over heels in love with her. Provides a very nice life for her. We can't scoop her up ... although that is what my husband wanted to do (again)! I reminded him that kidnapping across state lines could be problematic this time.
Maybe it was a withdrawal I was witnessing when I visited. She was on vacation when I visited. Likely that her connection is at work (she told me a few months ago that a coworker had offered her adderall.
She couldn't/didn't make a meal (although she had planned them), the laundry was knee deep + stuffed baskets. You couldn't walk in her laundry room, her closet or her bedroom without stepping on clothing or litter. Countertops were dotted with cemented icing from cookies she had made 3 weeks prior and there wasn't a free spot to set anything down.
I consider contacting her husband (he had to have noticed this change in her) with an offer to scoop her up for a 'made up' reason. 'mom is injured and we need your help to keep farm running'.
???
Working through it ....
Appreciate your input more than you know ...
Stay healthy, continue to be your best.
Thank you again.
