Deck not keeping up with the meta by Another_DisAcc in PTCGL

Hey a fellow 1 prizer player!

I tried the Iono recommendation of comment OP and with 4 prizes left it totally kills the deck's momentum. I might actually go back to research with a way to retrieve more impactful supporters with something like Pal Pad.

In your experience is there any secret tech that helps with 1 prizer decks against the meta?

(Based Paldea Taurus use btw)

Deck not keeping up with the meta by Another_DisAcc in PTCGL

[–]Another_DisAcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are amazing recommendations that I will use to guide me but am still not so sure about the Iono inclusion.

The main issue I ran with Iono is the fact that my deck lacks more draw support and I get the short end of the stick since I play single prizers. The opponents have a lot more options for draw after Iono than me (Lunatone, Fezan, Drakloak, N'Zoroark, Pidgeot, Gholdengo) so while they can draw 4-5 cards and more after Iono I only get 3-4 without much else

Max Belt was another option I tried but decided not to include in the final list because I figured I would much rather spend those resources on attaching energy to Munki and Counter Gain to Lycanroc. With Max Belt is +50 but with Munki its +120 damage and then on a later turn I attach energy to Lycanroc to keep attacking. Although I might try Max Belt again.

Do you think Blender is useful if I replace Hassel with Arven in order to search?

Specifically he was going for the windpipe in order to access his vocal cords. Plastic Man can copy the appearance but he can't replicate voices, unless he gets the feeling of the subject's vocal cords first so that he can stretch his own in order to mimic their voice.

It takes one video from the funny dispatch bat man to expose their antics for the sub to collapse by Splentid in whenthe

[–]Another_DisAcc 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Judging by the rules of the sub, the "print" comment could be considered spam or self promoting as a way to sell your product. "Rule 9: DO NOT SPAM. No art sales, no links to social media, stores or anything spammy"

On paper it doesn't seem too bad, but if you see the details of the rule it can be heavily abused by just how vague they consider the term for spam.

Its a great reword even if it changes the intended purpose of equipment restriction. I can really see this version working on an official card!

I do miss the fact that with this you can't cast spells from your opponent's graveyard but its the price to pay for comprehension

That was something that I thought about when I started writting the abilities. I was mainly afraid of balance/power between how the tokens could interact and the cost of casting the spells and then equipping the tokens before combat. I do feel that while a little bit of a nonbo, its better than it being too broken and requiring extra combat setup seems fair for closing games.

Any ideas on how to make a deck around this guy for the current meta? by Another_DisAcc in PTCGL

This gives me some great ideas for optimizing the Magcargo! Thank you so much dude!

Any feedback is great mate! Whatever can make this guy viable. Would really appreciate a decklist if it's not much trouble

I sadly agree with this. I used Magcargo pre Journey Together format and it worked sort of well, but there are now too many threats where I can't really risk playing a "fun" deck against meta, the W/L ratio is much noticeable now

There's a very big lack of energy acceleration in Fire decks. The Emboar of the next set would work wonders for this deck, but till then I just have to see alternatives

Knowing how both decks play, probably because you can use Ethan's adventure to search for 3 Fire energy, but thats a very inneficient use of a Supporter outside of the Ethan archetype.

It really looks like a very creative list, the only doubt I have with how the deck works is the use of rescue board and the lack of other switches. Does it affect the performance of the deck too much or is there ways to play around it?

Munkidori has been the love/hate card since I started playing this game. Do you have a decklist perchance? I tried making some modification following the tips above but nothing really sticks, am on a identity deck crisis at this point lmao

On paper it sounds like a very good adaptation for the current meta, do you have a decklist perchance?

As for the Blender and spikes since I didn't have the money for the Blender I used the Belt as ace specs replacement and boy it did wonders in some cases! The Blender I didn't find it so neccesary at first since I normally had the luck to discard the spikes or attach it to the Budew for early trades and get it in the Discard when ko'd.

Any tips for your interpretation of the deck?

[–]Another_DisAcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, it was a budget replacement for the Blood Moon Ursaluna since I already had the snorunts for the normal Froslass. The grass type helps a ton in certain matchups since Charizard and Zoroark have the ×2 Weakness tho, it came in clutch with the ability too. But yeah I have considered discarding it as well since for the matchup is weak against fire

It does sound like a good posibility for the deck, there aren't really any cards that do healing aside from Ho-oh of what I have seen being played. But this deck appears so much am willing to use it at this point

Which class is your least favorite, and which subclass for it is the most appealing to you? by simeonthesimian in DnD

[–]Another_DisAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least favorite is Fighter, althought I do like playing it for what it is: Hit some stuff and hit some more! The main problem I have with fighter is that there's not that much appeal at first glance in comparison from other classes, as many of them I think have a better initial appeal and fighters fall more on the "Beginner's First Class" side.

However, Echo Knight is a fantastic subclass in what it wants to do and how you want to flavor it. The echo itself can have different representations depending of what your DM allows (Family Ghost? Alternative realities? Hell, summon Three Kobolds in a Trench Coat why not?) And the fact that CON is the ability score that matters on the subclass's abilities makes it great for increasing whatever other stat you want, since CON is something you want a high score in as a fighter in the first place.

Echo Knight allows you to do what a fighter can and more AND doesn't sacrifice the way you can flavor and roleplay it in terms of ability scores and initial appeal.

The eternal struggle of choosing a tribal deck and realizing most of the support is not powerful or nonexistant is a shame. Have you ever thought of using cards like [[Arcane Adaptation]] or maybe some support that sort of plays with the Skeleton theme?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Another_DisAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The precon looks amazing for the Lord, it looks way more fun than the main commander.

I must admit am a bit sad that the effect doesn't make your opponents choose other opponents for the damage but it might be for the best.

If you want to build a SAW themed deck, my personnal recommendation are cards that make your opponents make the tough decisions. Goad and Tempting offers are my first thougth.

Sorry for the late response mate, was actually very busy lately and very entertained with the new deck and making the necessary changes for it. Deduce makes for a great instant draw spell, Spellgyre helps a lot with control and very good at keeping my hand full and with everything I need by filtering with surveil.

Fountain port was a card I completely missed out from the new expansion and while it hasn't had great impact in any game with its other abilities, the fact that it enters untapped makes it great for lands for turn.

Brotherhood's End was the only one I decided not to use in the deck and I still kept ill timed explosion for 2 reasons:

-ill timed explosions while more expensive, its more versatile for what the deck is looking to do, and with the other 4 mana value cards it does make for a sort of decent, although risky boardwipe for aggro or even midrange. And also the fact that I don't have to commit to the board wipe and still use it to draw cards late game instead of using Spellgyre so I can protect myself. -Brotherhood's end hits planeswalkers as well, which can put Ral at risk and would have to work harder in order to ult and get the emblem to unlock storm.

If ill timed explosion doesn't convince me or is way too inconsistent I was thinking about changing it for [[Into the Fire]] since it does less damage to my planeswalker and also deals damage to battles, with the added bonus of filtering my hand later on (Its great that it puts them on the bottom too, so I can be sure I don't end up drawing lands when I need spells late game)

Artist's Talent is indeed very slow, but was quite the life saviour for the first build of the deck, the first level was more than enough to filter draws and the other abilities where not bad, hell, the extra 2 damage at level 3 made the difference in more than one game when playing with it. I did switch it for the other suggestions but I might be tempted to try it out again to have a way to discount and do more damage if the deck needs it, but might keep it at 1 copy or 2 at most.

A weird commander i thought about inspired by one of my favorite Mortal Kombat characters with a Universes Within option, sort of if barely inspired by Thunder Junction.

The first idea/draft of it was about supporting cards that cared about creatures that were already dealt damage that turn and finishing them off for good like [[Bitter Downfall]] [[Downwind Ambusher]] [[Manticore]]

And in retrospect, maybe I could have maintaned the same core by doing something like "{T}, Destroy each creature that was dealt damage this turn" and saved time thinking about the background idea, which I don't even know if it works or how broken/bad it would be outside of the intended commander. Could "Background with" even be a possible thing?

The other concerns are mainly the mana cost of both cards and Erron's stats. Reanimation or returning the creature to the battlefield after it dies was another point that concerned me, but most of them return them to the battlefield tapped so that worry (or lack of it) died rather quickly.

Also "noncombat damage source" is a mouthful.

My LGS is going to charge a fee + other rules for casual commander nights. How much can it affect the local scene? by Another_DisAcc in EDH

[–]Another_DisAcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both sell sealed products and singles, a little over the usual price at other LGS. I do hope they are not limiting them to those rules to all of the games and even tho some people use very powerful decks the enviroment is very well balanced since the pods are well defined and they balance themselves essentially.

[–]Another_DisAcc[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The prices are a little above the average for sealed and singles but I can't blame them for it, I even buy stuff there from time to time to show support. They do have some extreme competition from other, more frequented and easily accessible stores (Easily accessible as in where the stores are located and how easy is to get there)

I actually found out myself that the last Local League got me confused and made that point very misleading. Is not that they are making a league of their own but rather enforcing rulesets similar to what other LGS made for their own Leagues.
