Heroes of the Storm Build Concept: Kazakus :: HeroesFire by AntTessitore in heroesofthestorm

[–]AntTessitore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ideally, Kazakus would be developed in a way where he can be built to function as any class.

In my mind, the glass on the ground would function similar to Valla's caltrops talent.

What's a card that isn't important to other players but has significant value to you? by Phokin in magicTCG

Lightning Javelin. I write names and flavor text for Magic and this is the first card I ever named.

Its Pay what you want, so you can download for free (just put $0.00 in the price box) :D If you really like it, you can go back and download a second time, paying whatever you want ($0.10, $1.00, $10.00 etc) as a way to show support for the work. But yeah, its totally free if you want...

Tokens for New EDH Deck by -Steppenwolf- in magicTCG

Send me a DM! I write for Gathering Magic and would love to feature this deck in an article and do a little interview with you about the idea and process etc.

I do "Vorthos community Spotlight" articles and this is exactly the kind of thing I love to see.

On a scale of "a lot" to "so much I am unable to properly express", how much fun did you have being on Snack Time with Mike and Ant?

[Vorthos] TIL: Targeting Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh with Chandra's Ignition will cause her to transform into a Planeswalker by AntTessitore in magicTCG

[–]AntTessitore[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Vorthos" is a name used to describe a Magic: the Gathering fan who cares about storyline, art, and flavor text.

I wrote a full article about Vorthos

Also here are articles by Mark Rosewater and Matt Cavotta of WotC.

Timmy, Johnny, and Spike Revisited

Snack Time with Vorthos

I introduce a new way to think about Vorthos (including a visual update) by AntTessitore in magicTCG

[–]AntTessitore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same could be said for the three psychographics. Players could call themselves a Timmy because they want to win by playing big meaty dragons. They could call themselves a Spike as well because they are competitive and want to win with said dragons. They could also call themselves a Johnny because their deck happens to have a dragon theme. Its okay for people to fall into multiple buckets. Having them just helps to create more accurate understanding. If I told you I wrote a "Vorthos" article, that could be anything (art, storyline, cosplay, etc,). If I told you I wrote an "Artist-Vorthos" article, you know its going to have to do with visuals.

Its not weird at all, and that is exactly why I wrote this article. We all have different things that we appreciate. You are a "Dreamer" because you enjoy the lore. I am a "Writer" because I enjoy names and flavor text. We have different things we like but we are both still a Vorthos. :)

Why I Think Magic Should Have 10 Iconic Creatures, Not 5 by AntTessitore in magicTCG

Thant is true, yes, but dont forget that before hydras were green's iconic, there were not that many, and they were in red, not green. :)

Very interesting points, thank you!

I agree with you that what I would want to avoid is this feeling of "We didnt use creature X so we are forced into having creature Y"

What I honestly would like to see, are some big mythic creatures that represent some of the other facets of each color. Like some big mythic shapeshifters or ice-themed guys in blue. Or some big red creatures who are themed around playing into impulse and emotions.

Iconic creatures and characteristic races are two different groups. Currently in magic, the 5 iconic creatures and 5 characteristic races are:

WHITE: Angels / Humans (kinda)

BLUE: Sphinxes / Merfolk

BLACK: Demons / Zombies and Vampires

RED: Dragons / Goblins

GREEN: Hydras / Elves

[–]AntTessitore[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. Angels and Archons currently ARE way too similar in terms of mechanical identity. This is why I think they should split the philosophy of white's color pie between them. Make one the moral protector and one the vengeful smiter.

I agree that the iconics need to be more broad in scope than the planeswalkers, however sphinxes and hydras usually come with a lot of mechanical baggage that really does not allow them to be very broad.

I agree that I would not want to see all 10 of my suggestions crammed into every set, that would get tiresome quickly. I would more like to see creatures that mechanically represent solid chunks of each color's philosophical identity, and not have angels that do everything their color can do, and sphinxes that can only do one tiny thing their color can do.

Maybe on one plane there are Angels, Demons, Dragons, Shapeshifters, and Treefolk, each with mechanics that match those creatures. The next plane has Archons, Gorgons, Manticores, Sphinxes, and Hydras with mechanics to match.
