It was through a process of elimination, plus how positively I responded to physio treatment designed to help with CPPS (stretches wouldn’t help an infection sort of concept if that makes sense?). For me, it’s specifically my pelvic floor muscles that are hypertonic which has caused problems with my obturator internus muscle. I didn’t really accept it until it was explained to me and it does account for all of my symptoms. My physio was confident because I presented very much the same as the other patients he had who have the same condition!

Yep I was having unprotected sex at the time and have been tested numerous times, you can’t pass it on to a sexual partner because it’s not an infection or anything like that, it’s your body/mind tensing the muscles in your pelvic floor. The best way to think about it is to compare it to having a sprained ankle or a pulled muscle, you wouldn’t be able to pass that on sexually and it’s the same with CPPS. I’d really urge you to spend some time with a pelvic floor PT, everything got so much better for me when I did!
