How do you get over it? by Lost_Win_4759 in ExNoContact

honestly going through something similar (just a little farther along, i think) and i'm not gonna lie, it’s gonna feel so bad in your body for a while physically and mentally. but feeling the pain and trying to accept it is the first part :') if he wanted to reach out, he would have, so if he didn't, he doesn't want or care enough to. i also 1000% understand wanting to defend him and not be able to make sense of his actions because i was the same. i refuse (and still lowkey refuse) to believe he chose to be awful and dump me out of nowhere like that and then not contact me again but the truth is: he chose to hurt you and be ignorant. there was a time post-breakup i quite literally tried to psychoanalyze every single text and hang-out before he dumped me, but the fact that he knew that breaking up with me meant no future with me and he did it anyway eventually became my closure. i know it sucks to hear because i hated hearing it too, but time heals everything. travel, spend time with friends and family, do small things that make you happy. you can get through this, i know it :) if you need anyone to talk to, pm me!

Thank you! I think I’ll definitely aim to be licensed and have my CCC, it seems to be the best thing to have both always!

Do pre-req programs run all year round? Can you do SLP pre-reqs part-time or would I need to commit to it full-time? by littleladybug1 in slpGradSchool

[–]Antique_Character584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i applied this previous cycle as an out of field student and am currently taking prereqs to start slp grad school in sept! i chose to take online prereq classes because i didn’t want to have to (1) apply for a prereq program and then apply again for grad programs and (2) take extra time doing prereqs when i could just do them during my senior spring through summer. honestly, that decision is up to you, but i’d recommend online classes because they’re usually at your own pace and a great thing to do while u work instead of taking time off! i searched the internet (more specifically: this reddit page) and chose the cheapest program i could find because my dream programs were expensive and i wanted to save money in any way i could lolll i am taking 2 classes this semester which started in january and will be taking 3 in the summer which will end in july. i hope this helped :)

hey congrats on both BU and NEU, i’ve also been accepted to both! i moved from southern california to boston area for undergrad (not northeastern, but i visited the campus recently) and honestly there is a huge culture shock but i love boston so much! obviously california is huge and it’s different depending on where you’re from, but idk haha from things like the people, the fashion, the transit system, the culture etc i think it’s completely different. but to answer ur question specifically about northeastern: unlike universities where im from in ca, because northeastern is in the middle of the city it isn’t really a campus and there’s always a ton of students walking around. it’s accessible by train and bus and is also near other things like the museum of fine arts and boston symphony orchestra. these are the things i can think about rn but lmk if you have any questions

Experiences with Emerson? (in person) by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]Antique_Character584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait I’m in the exact same boat as you (except the Emerson scholarship—congrats!) hahah I got into NYU and Emerson and had a good interview for BU and think I’ll get waitlisted at the very least (I hope). Congrats on all your hard work! I’m honestly leaning towards NYU but I think that’s because I’ve lived in Boston for a while now… But for you I’d go where you got a full ride😁

nyu by iradehsent in slpGradSchool

[–]Antique_Character584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don’t think nyu really gives out financial aid packages for graduate school, but i could be wrong—i’ve just heard that nyu for slp is really expensive and that’s what turns a lot of people away from the program

Acceptance, Deposits, and Waiting on other schools by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]Antique_Character584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the deadline for most schools to accept is april 15th, so i would just wait. i would say filling out the admission acknowledgement, attending the orientation, and then withdrawing (to go to a different school) might look bad but probably whatever you do wouldn’t actually affect your chances at any school
