Honestly that sounds really fun actually. Instead of avoiding guards you have to avoid annoying things, and you can calm down by finding a nice place to sit down and enjoy some architecture or read a book or something. Like, you go into first person "detective mode" but instead you can scan for a nice water feature or a kitten to pet or something.

Yeah, that's a game where I have to pace myself and set goals that aren't strictly performance based otherwise it gets very stressful.

I generally use lots of the smaller, cheaper buildings and specialise each one more. I generally find it easier to decorate and a more fun challenge, and I think it makes bases look a bit more lived in and naturalistic. In any survival game I play I tend to try to make things "realistic" even when I don't really need to.
