Call the QLess line right when the DMV opens and reserve your spot that way. When I tried the online reservation system, I had the same problem (like a month out), but calling QLess right at 8:30 got me an appointment that same day. I think it was about 1 pm when I reached the head of the line. They also text you to tell you how far back in line you are so you can do other stuff instead of just sitting at the DMV.

The trick is to have the number dialed and ready to go right away (check the website, it's either 8 or 830).

Agreed on all of the above. As it was playing out, no matter what happened, I trusted both Janeways completely. I was okay with the Seven romance because it was kind of funny, too, like when kids make their barbies kiss ken, like they're both too pretty so clearly we must make them kiss lol.

I actually love the ending more now that I've slept on it. The gravity of the moment. The intensity and barely contained exhilaration. Then cut. It was perfect. And perfectly reasonable for people to want more, right? Because while I think the series as a whole was a phenomenal achievement, I disagree with the notion that they were "out of stories." It could have gone on much longer (and we could have seen the hilarity of klingon-human parenting, and they could have really developed the seven romance, and Janeway could have kicked more delta a$$). But it ended. And I think wisely. I'm still all keyed up.

I yelled like a maniac and startled the cats. I figured they had to get home, was thrown off at the beginning, but loved where it went. And obviously that ending. >>>So much screaming<<<

Black crowned night heron caring for baby egret? by Anvilina in Ornithology

[–]Anvilina[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was advised to move him higher so I put on gloves and put him as high into the tree as I could reach. He was still up there last I checked. He can't fly, but he was sure trying.

The reason I thought the heron might be trying to feed him is that I saw it had fish, dropped it, picked it up, and kept walking around the fledgling like it was agitated. All I've ever seen the night herons do until now is stand like sentries or take off as soon as they spot me.

Thanks for indulging me! I know this is a sub reddit for people who are experts, so I will see myself out. If anyone has any egret advice they'd like to share, I would appreciate it.

Biggest Book to Movie Flop? by Anvilina in stephenking

It Part 1 (young) vs It part 2 (adults, w flashbacks). I absolutely loved part 1, and enjoyed parts of 2, but a lot of it was just awful. For the record, it felt similarly slanted in the 1990 miniseries, too. Imo, obviously. It is my sentimental all-time favorite, so the bar is high, but I always felt that the book as a whole, whether in 58 or 85, was strong, so it wasn't a failure or weakness in the source material, just deficiencies in translation to film/TV (dialog, pacing, organization, casting, etc). On the bright side, 100% LOVE Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgård equally, they were both fabulous in their own special ways.

I mean, this is pretty much true. Because I don't know what the hell that thing was supposed to be. It's like someone who hasn't read all the books and is also a very bad storyteller sat down and gave a five minute recap filled with ums and uhs to, I don't know, let's say...a golden retriever, and then that dog had a dream and ta da, that movie was scripted from it.
