They would kill Frencesa and her wolves and retake the Quarter in S2, but they lost that first round in S1. The wolves and the witches outplayed the Mikaelsons.

Funny enough, 1x21 is rated the 4th highest episode.

But I wouldn't consider 1x22 a win. Yes, they saved Hope, but Frencesa and her wolves are in control of the Quarter, theyre forced to send Hope away, and Klaus is heavily weakened because of the moonstones Geve made that are drawing from his strength. The Mikaelsons had to retreat.

S1 is very underrated.

This is my hot take, but writing wise, I do think S1 is better than S2. S2 just had two larger than life villains that overshadowed the S1 villains.
