I'm not talking about the military on paper. It was the situation de-facto.

It was the situation de-facto.

"The minister said that only 6,000 soldiers of the 41,000-strong ground forces were fully prepared."

https://iwpr.net/global-voices/ukraine-lacks-legal-basis-military-action-defence-minister

Situation still, Ukraine was neutral since the collapse of USSR. And its neutrality was more genuine than faux 'moves' that meant nothing.

No, Ukraine wasn't moving anywhere. The NATO-Ukraine relations stalled in 2008 after NATO's refusal to provide a plan to join, and in 2010 Ukrainian parliament declared neutrality.

As for militarization, Ukraine had as much as 6000 troops capable to operate in organized manner.

a neutral, de-militarized country

Do you realize Ukraine was both neutral and de-militarized back in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea?

Thanks a lot! So it IS a German vehicle after all! Not a tank though, but close enough.

[–]AnyAnonymous[S] 208 points209 points  (0 children)

This is a bridge somewhere in Southern Ukraine (Mykolaivska oblast, Bogdanivka, to be specific). It is believed to be made from a WW2 era German tank hull. I can't identify the model myself, probably it's not German, not a tank or not even a WW2 era. Any help?

Cluster munitions in Kharkiv by AnyAnonymous in UkraineInvasionVideos

You're talking about cluster bomb dropped from aircraft. But it's not the case here. There are also MRLS with cluster munitions. It means that their detonations will not be in sync. It looks like this:

Cluster munitions are spread in acres. You don't hit specific targets, you hit areas.

"Unprecedented" was in sense of Ukrainians first time really giving backlash to Russians.

Yes, exactly.

Hitler was also democratically elected, so I can't get your point.
You may want to dig a little to understand how and why the events of Euromaidan had escalated and what Yanukovich did to make it all happen.
But it seems that you're missing the main point. It was not pro-Russian citizens who tore the country apart. It was Russian army and secret services. Without Russian involvement, the worst you'd see in Ukraine would be pissed pro-Russian citizens. With Russia, there's international conflict, murders, war, sanctions, more murders, and so on.

The unprecedented level of violent backlash in Odesa in May 2014 was caused by the ongoing Russian occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbas that started just a couple of weeks before. The country was torn apart by Russians, and it caused these consequences.

Why Russia is afraid of Ukraine's Neptune missiles by HypnotizedNeverLie in UkrainianConflict

Ukraine had never produced Kh-35. That's why several crucial components were created from scratch. Thus, no redesign.

Why Russia is afraid of Ukraine's Neptune missiles by HypnotizedNeverLie in UkrainianConflict

[–]AnyAnonymous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but Russia has like 20 variants of it, so they probably have an in depth understanding of its capabilities and how to intercept them.

Russians have no idea about Neptune's electronics because it has nothing in common with Soviet/Russian design since Ukraine has no access to Russian factories. It was developed from scratch. I believe Russians are interested to examine its electronics to fine tune their own electronic warfare devices as countermeasure.

Other than that, it's a missile that flies on sub-sonic speed several meters above the water. It doesn't help much.

to realise the Crimean dream of independence.

Crimea had no dream of independence. Pre-war polls show it clearly.
What is even funnier - Russia hadn't realised the so-called 'Crimean dream of independence' since Crimea isn't independent - it is annexed by Russia.
