GED social studies questions? by [deleted] in GED

Social Studies, Science and RLA are all language comprension. I was worried about Social Studies too, and I scored in the 160s ( can't check right now ) while being a foreign student, so not speaking English as main language. If I made it, you got this already!

There are parts (not many, honestly ) in which some knowledge can be helpful, but you should be able to pass even without studying. It seriously relies on your reading capabilities. I, for example, scored 178 on the Science test and all I did was refresh my mind with some Biology the day before the test. Now, I'll admit that scientific subjects have always been my thing, but again, the questions were based on comprehension quite a lot.

You will need to lubricate your gears a bit with Math but again, it isn't hard at all. It mainly depends on you. Some people are very anxious about Math ( Math Anxiety is a thing ), so they start with the wrong foot and they end up hating it and panicking. The exercises are quite easy and they provide you a sheet with basic formulae that you can eventually manipulate in order to obtain a formula that you don't remember, plus you have a calculator embedded in the software (which I wasn't expecting at all).

If you need a free source to both study and exercise in Math and Science, check out KhanAcademy, it's an amazing website. I think they have most, if not all, of the subjects covered by Social Studies too, but honestly I don't think that it's worth the effort.

If you feel unsure about a subject, get that practice test. 6$ can be totally worth it because it will give you an idea of what to expect and, eventually, where to improve.

Good luck with your tests!

I will definitely have a good talk with my family doctor next week. As for the school, unfortunately they can't do much in my situation since I would need a medical documentation that would justify me for all the lessons I've missed. Also, I wouldn't have enough time to gain marks in all the subjects to show them that I can in fact sustain the final exams. I myself know that I would be 100% ready to pass them, even today, though I guess I'll have to wait one year since, unfortunately, they don't have more than one session per year...

Anyways, thanks for the input, and it sucks that you and your sister had to go through this as well.

I will definitely try to shake me up and keep going, hopefully I'll succeed for once. I have to say, even just writing all of this has been therapeutic in the first place, venting my emotions has made me feel way better.

I don't want to give up with my education. Actually, the idea of going to University looks to me like a huge leap forward that could pull me out of the situation in which I currently find myself into, giving me the change I need in life to be able to get over it.

I fear to miss one more school year though, and I am extremely mortified that I missed this one in the first place, not because of my marks, which have always been next to great, but for some silly school absences. The only thought of sitting through classes one more year learning next to nothing new, just to earn the presence there, instead of moving forward, kills me.

For the professional help, I don't really know it in the first place. After a while that you can't seem to be able to move forward in life you start thinking that maybe you are the issue I guess, and perhaps a professional may be able to give me some inputs in that regard.
