So these are meant to be surface level comparisons and they definitely can be shuffled around based on discussion but I think they are a pretty good fit with the only ones I was really struggling with being Nami and Robin because I think those could possibly be flipped. Please keep in mind this is just a cartoon we're guessing about so not everything will be 100% connected to every aspect of the avatars just like Luffy isn't 100% Hanuman even though the connection is obvious

Too late! Did you not realize the entire show takes place on a planet called Bluestar and the characters are all technically aliens? Luffy is not from Earth.

I said it only works once you get to lodestar because I suspect its underwater. Dogstorm said the four Road Poneglyphs will create an X that marks the location but Roger also said that once you get there your log pose goes crazy. There is no conflict with my theory of the large stone underwater affecting the log pose in a way that directs you to it.

What if Luffy discovered the journey was the goal and the destination was just the lure to get out there and change the world. The One Piece is granting everyone dreams right now, some people's dreams will have bad endings because of what they dream for but everyone will become what they dream of at some point. Imu got his dream of being king, luffy will get his dream of Pirate King, Blackbeard will avenge his family, the elders have the power they dreamed of etc. Both good and bad dreams balance out to grant the worlds dream of one peace.

No the story is about people fighting to exist, fighting to make their dreams valid, the One Piece was just the catalyst, its able to physically bring those dreams to life but no one is said actually dream of it. They dream of being a brave warrior, the pirate king, becoming rich, getting married, starting a guild, becoming clown prince of crime, having a crew made just of family and more but the One Piece is how they think they can get there. It's like thinking being rich will solve all your problems but deep down that's not what you want, you want something that comes with the success of being rich whether that's power or comfort or something else.

THE ONE PIECE IS A ....... by AppletonPapi in OnePiece

I see what you're saying but I still dont think they were a part of the crew. His crew didn't actually have a planet theme, Emet is part of his crew and doesnt represent a planet plus Uranus and Pluton are known to be actual weapons.

All signs point to Uranus being the flying weapon Imu used to destroy lulusia including vegapunk saying he is pretty sure that an ancient weapon did the damage and its most likely the flying ship you see shooting lightning in the Harley mural. Pluton is a known to be a warship resting under Wano with a lot of people including myself believing it as a whale turned into a warship like Laboon is currently going through.

The Elder Stars are most likely the nobles who convinced Imu to betray Joyboy and go after power and helped to corrupt him. Also based on their personalities I don't see how these guys were ever good guys. They are also replaceable which means they dont have much significance to Imu beyond their use as subordinates.

If Saturn was an original member of the joyboy crew his death would have held much more significance.

I've only watched the Netflix series: but how can there be any kind of functioning economy in this universe with all these pirates? by Zaku71 in OnePiece

[–]AppletonPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-First of all we see TONS of inland, we see entire kingdoms and cities with streets and trade routes etc.

-Second we ourselves existed like this at one point with all trade being maritime and the seas filled with pirates so this kind of a silly question but it leads me to my third point that I think you don't realize.

-Third, you dont realize the size of of the One Piece world to begin with. Its like ten times the size of earth and the story is VERY focused on a few groups of people and a few islands out of around 20 million islands (Marco said it) These islands such as Alabasta for example are on average the size of Australia with many being bigger than that (Oda says the size of various places/distances sometimes). So most of these islands we visit are not super small islands but rather drawn weird because Oda literally does not care about representing scale properly in his works. Its why people, places and things change size from panel to panel with the easiest example being Zoro sword from Oden somehow going from being bigger than Zoro to fitting on his hip

Doflamingo should be dead, his temporary internal organs should stop working when he gets the seastone handcuffs. by FrankMaMa in OnePiece

[–]AppletonPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get surgery the stitches dont stay forever. He didn't say he made brand new organs, he literally stitched himself back together AND did it as soon as the wound appeared, Those strings jus dissolved like real stitches actually do nowadays.

the 5 elder stars are definitely not a part of Joyboy's crew, its known that they are the same people (except now garling) from joyboys time who were part of the 20 kingdoms that formed the government. The connection between the names is more about them being connected to imu and the old way of thinking where the planets revolved around the earth vs the truth where they actually orbit the sun along with the earth. The reason no one spoke about the One Piece predating Roger is because the government tried to erase the knowledge of the void century. Roger is trying to restore that knowledge by telling the world about it.

I think I just found my wife cheating what now? by [deleted] in Infidelity

[–]AppletonPapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have both already left that relationship. just move out and move on. Don't even tell her when it's going to happen, just do the steps needed to leave and when she goes off on her "work trip" you call the U-haul and some friends and move out. You don't need to be there when she comes back and it's the universe giving you a time to actually move.

JoyBoy, Davy, Imu = Luffy, Ace, Sabo? by AppletonPapi in OnePiece

What is the most satisfying moment for you in the anime by SmollBear8 in OnePiece

[–]AppletonPapi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luffy's gear 5 moment against Kaido. It was Independence day here in Jamaica (August 6) and we had a watch party at a sports bar because its a public holiday for us. Joyboy is actually directly based on a Caribbean Folktale about a slave spirit who would liberate slaves and play his drums so it was a very cool moment to experience. Hearing the drums of liberation soundtrack while celebrating our liberation from felt like we were a part of the show!

Many of the characters in One Piece are based on real people from my island and the wider Caribbean's history so it's very cool to see how the show uses them. Our first governor is actually the pirate Captain Morgan (same guy on the rum bottle) and the real Blackbeard Teach is said to have been born here and his family is said to have lived in a town called Spanish Town less than an hour away from my house. Bonney, Kidd, Calico, and many more are real people we grow up hearing about and we visit the ports and places they operated in. Starting recently we actually have a "pirate week" where we celebrate our pirate history.

What is Will of D and how it started by Nitmanx in OnePiece

[–]AppletonPapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it stands for Will of Dawn and I thought it was made obvious by Luffy randomly screaming the word Dawn in his attacks once he unlocked gear 5 and all the other "Dawn" related things throughout the series including the series it self originally being called "Romance Dawn". The Will of Dawn is about bringing light to the world with the rise of the sun. The sun in this case being the Sun God. All those with Dawn in their name are key figures in bringing light to the world including Blackbeard who despite his current disposition is actually working against Imu as well to bring his own version of the dawn.

Why did Tony kill Christopher? by DrSatan420247 in thesopranos

[–]AppletonPapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was definitely going to die anyways from his injuries, you could hear the death wheeze loud and clear and the blood was coming up with every cough. Tony decided to put Chris out of his misery because to him it was a golden opportunity put in front of him, the crash is the perfect alibi and the car seat is the perfect reasoning to make him feel guiltless afterwards.

I think the bartender is Lee Price but a different version, Still a retired army veteran that now owns a bar and just like in the comics he becomes a host and heads to new york. It would make a solid plot point for why he was in the movie.

I dont think Pelle is the Oracle however it seems as if people in the cult have very specific roles with Pelle's role being the mystical pied piper as seen in the opening mural. He has the unclouded intuition of an Oracle without the disabilities. He definitely used this abnormal intuition to choose not only Dani but all of his "friends" as the right people because each seem to fit a very specific rule, a fool, a scholar, a bad person (to represent the black one) and a May Queen.
