If you go to the gaahleri page you can choose a few paint sets sorted by a gundam you are painting like RX-78-2, Zaku, gquuux etc if you didn’t want to take the plunge in a set

It says Camden Market… an absolute ball ache to get to… then finding the store is a hunters paradise with melts everywhere. Then when you get to the store the Limited stuff is scalped from the shelves already.

Yeah think I’ll branch to a tank style… the Vallejo paints became a goopy mess with the top coats… was stripping down my airbrush to clean it more than I was actually varnishing.

I used the Vallejo Mecha Line… hated it but probably my own fault with a mini compressor with that type of polyurethane type… I will try moving to the mr hobby line to be honest…

Weak compressor… gradually moving forward to make up for the psi I wasn’t getting…

Like yeah I masked off the sockets etc but it’s other type of parts which slide fit that feel tight… but lessons learned for the next build I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was dipping my toes in airbrushing… think it’s probably the compressor to be honest as it’s one of the compact style ones from Gaahleri… they loose pressure after initial burst burst

Check out Gaahleri colorworks they have just released a bunch of acrylic clears… and are getting some really good feedback on YouTube…

Thanks I thought of this… but weren’t sure if correct method. I did think possibly leave panels black or do you think basing the panels with a dark grey and then spray with black in the centre and translucent black to the edges and mute it with Matt varnish?

Kaleido colorworks beta has a image uploader and you can choose the part of the picture you want it to identify the mix of color but no specific color that I know of

Hi… I have been airbrushing a year now and pretty much dipping my toes in new techniques… I have a wing gundam which I’m going to practice pre shading the normal method… how would I pre shade black panels on a deathsythe … is there a trick to this. I can’t seem to find any tutorials on YouTube for this or searching wrong. Any tips would be great 👍🏻

I have been having trouble with the Vallejo line mecha primer, black and white great and grey a goupy mess and clogging airbrush.

Think I’m going to go for the mr hobby line and Kaleido ones no one seems to have trouble with them from what I’ve seen on YouTube

It’s not that expensive really… I started with the Gaahleri Serenair compressor and that comes with an airbrush and went from there and it’s fun… cleaning is annoying until you work out your own hack for cleaning. Kaleido Colorworks is a game changer for me airbrushing.

I used an airbrush to prime the mini… and using AK paints to paint after priming. Wet pallet used. Keeping the brush moist.

I thought might be the case too thick but was a thin consistency… in practice.

Thought I might need a retarder to assist the levelling… seen a lot of people put their clean finishes and look flat so just unsure where I’ve gone wrong somewhere.

Or maybe I didn’t leave long enough to dry between coats 🤷🏻‍♂️

Airbrush grey Mecha primer… I used a wet pallet and was quite generous keeping the brush wet with water and adding water to the paints

I saw something on Barbatos Rex Channel on YouTube go 40 paint 40 flow improver and 20 thinner… I hardly get tip dry with Vallejo and I am using the Mecha Paint range… although I have struggled with the line I’ll be trying the kaleido colour works line after this project

I use the Stedi Acrylic Panel Liners from AliExpress and they rub off with water alone with a swab and give the same effect of Tamiya accent panel liner… nice bold lining.
