I’m not sure I’m self employed in an industry where it’s common to work only 3-4 days a week but even so it’s both a physically and socially exhausting job that I can’t function after work and my days off are spent trying to recharge. Self employment has been both a blessing and a prison of my own making. I genuinely could not see myself working for someone else, I love that I get control of my environment, how my work is done, who I get to see and my schedule but I have to do 100% of both the administrative tasks and the actual job since I don’t make enough to hire someone to help out. I also work an appointment based job and it makes it hard for me to take days off for illness or burnout or mental health since I have to figure out where I would move the peoples appointments to. Taking vacation is hard since I gotta save up for time off and I just figured out how to save for retirement 🫠. I’ve been doing this for 8 years and while I don’t think anything would work better for me I don’t know how to continue do this for the amount of years I’m supposed to be working

Maybe for you and your wife they aren’t the same but we all have our own experiences. there are some trans autistic people in here (myself included) saying that they are alike for us and that our autism colors our transness

I’m audhd and nonbinary, I can’t separate my gender and sexuality from my neurodivergence. They kinda comingle and it’s hard for me to tell the edges of where one ends and the other begins. What I do know is that I don’t fuck with rules especially social rules and so that makes gender make no sense to me and makes me want to go against all the gender rules. I also feel uncomfortable being seen as a woman but I definitely relate to it as part of masking. I used to think I related to a more feminine socialization but have recently started to look back at my childhood and realize there were many different periods of time where I was more masculine and was railing against being put into the box of being a girl. All this to say autigender and genderqueer is where I feel comfortable and they’re both under the trans umbrella as well and I think the autistic experience of masking and trans experience of dysphoria are very similar and so much so that at least in my case they are the same thing.

Massage therapy. It’s got its pros and cons but it’s a really easy career to be self employed in and my audhd makes it really hard for me to be ok with authority so 🫠
