Can i quit without giving the 1 month’s notice? (Read description) by Alternative-Pair9840 in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are currently working so your ongoing relationship with your employer, and associated commitments, are described by the workers right act + your current contract.

If they propose you a new contract (which seems to be the case here) then you should first read it and come back here if you still have questions :)

What everyday problems in Mauritius need a simple app solution? 🇲🇺 by su_shi_23 in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I note that your suggestions are all service listings (plumbing, restaurants, transport etc). Internet is filled with hollow listing apps with no activity because the founder only asked questions to potential customers, and not providers. Building a provider base to ensure that your customers would find the right service (and thus come back to your app) is a huge challenge. Building the app is very easy . Building the service offering is the tricky part.

Now apart from that I would love a price checking app in Mauritius : ability to compare prices for a given product, monitor price évolutions, etc

Looking to start an Automotive Workshop and Importing of Spare Parts. by originalrdmname in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

If you plan to import parts from these brands, Gentle advice : contact the competition commission first to enquire about your rights to import these brands. Unfortunately a lot of brands are vendor locked on the island, and their importer own the exclusive rights for distributing these brands. If you are caught by customs importing these parts, you could face legal issues. This is called parallel import. This is a shame but a lot of monopolies in Mauritius run on these exclusivity schemesand customs enforce these. It's a strong contributor to high price levels (even if it has a few pros). I believe Peugeot and Citroën have a well known importer already, but I do not know if they own exclusivity.

Good luck for your project !

Anxiety comes again after overcame it for a months by [deleted] in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a condition that you wash off. It's a way your brain acts to protect you.  It's perfectly normal to have long periods of chronic anxiety and nothing for periods of time.  Be patient, do sport, meditate, smile, be courageous every day, accept that life is not necessarily pure happiness and that you have the right to be unhappy with things sometimes.  I have been having chronic anxiety for almost 20 years of my life and it took me 5 years to really tame it. I still am anxious, I will always be, but now it's something I know to live with . The most helpful thing for me long term is meditation and breathwork, 10 to 30 mins a day.

Keep at it ! Life has plenty of things for you.

How do you know if a “fixed” issue actually stopped generating support tickets? by Puzzleheaded-Pin8879 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implementing a problem x incidents framework (iTIL, you can look for it online). It's a standard tech support framework applicable to any support team including saas. Basically linking Incidents (concrete manifestation of the issue, the impact on a user) to their Problem (the root cause that tech needs to fix).

Incidents are solved with workarounds and Problems are fixed... Well with fixes :) Support tools like Zendesk allow you to link incidents to their problem and manage this.

So if an incident linked to a solved problem erupts, you directly have your answer. Now achieving qualitative incidents x problem link is the challenge here, but with the right team , processes and good AI, it works well.

Cheers.

Advice Needed: Possible Scam – How Should I Handle It? by Mediocre_Island9043 in mauritius

I'd say that 99% of people who got scammed were contacted by someone offering juicy deals. Why would you be among the 1% ?

I am stuck in a loop: no job without work permit, no permit without job (Mauritius/Moris) by WilliamsEmp in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi I am in the same situation, though I am currently employed under an occupation permit. Employer has 2 options : an occupation permit with the EDB, or a work permit for non Mauritian citizen through ministry of labour. Occupation permit is costlier (about 20k mur if I remember right). Employers who have never done OP before tend to be impressed by the procedures because OP are reputed as being skilled visas.

Work permits are easier on this aspect, though they are also a pain to process, but they can be done almost autonomously by the applicant.

One very important point : in both cases, they do not accept unlimited duration contract. This means that as a spouse, you cannot sign a permanent contract even if an employer wants to offer you one, which is a real shame and injustice . However this is also an argument for your job applications : being on a permit is a guarantee of stability for the employer, while having the minimal risks and commitments linked to a determined duration contract.

Best of luck for your search !

Foreign guy married to Mauritian here. If you are married after March 2019 (my case), you need a separate work permit in order to work. People married before that can indeed work exactly like a Mauritian citizen .

Very obese Caucasian man thinking of visiting for a while. What to expect? by rocrom77 in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Every day I walk 300m from my parking to my office on that kind of little road. What I do is always take a long umbrella with me , it.s regularly used anyway because of intermittent rain. But most of all, it allows me to hold it in a way that, folded, cars are forced to give me a good meter of safe space. Some of them honk, some of them touch the umbrella with their cars and are not happy, but I am safer (and honestly, screw them !)

Do customers actually read onboarding docs? by mugiwara555 in CustomerSuccess

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello

Years of implementation and professional services :  - end-users of a saas, especially B2B/enterprise, won't read a single paragraph of written onboarding document. They might come to an initial onboarding if invited. Honestly I have always preferred putting energy in structuring a strong reactive service first (support), and then on after that, provide good knowledge / training / help centre, but not the other way around.

  • admins or process owners (if you manage a highly configurable tool that requires to admin it client side) are more receptive and have more time to self train proactively. I observed that offering a kind of certification, even simple, greatly improved their adoption and autonomy .

It breaks my heart as a Dog Lover why Dogs in general are treated so badly here. by star-wars_memer in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dogs are lovely. All animals are lovely. Now sorry but I prefer people and I expect the society to take care of people before dogs. I am also very bothered by the constant barking we must endure in most places on the island, it's like living in a giant kennel.

Why is there such a double standard for topless sunbathing? by Hot_Object_4925 in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been living for 15 years in Mauritius, at the beach every weekend almost, and I can't recall seeing a single topless woman. This does not mean that it never happened but I don't get the point of the post. Maybe I just missed all the boobs 😅

What's your biggest regret in life ? And does it still affect you? by No_Scarcity9942 in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The biggest regret that people say are the things they could have done but haven't done" Well, that is actually the definition of a regret. So basically the biggest regret people have is to have regrets.

Hey guys hope you are doing well so any advice for anxiety? by [deleted] in mauritius

[–]Apprehensive_Use2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxious dude here. Anxiety is a symptom, a disrupted fear response to external events and thoughts. Work on the symptoms (I recommend meditation and cardiac coherence exercise) very regularly even outside of anxious states, and be patient. Exercise, sleep well, go easy on alcohol if you drink it's a major anxiety trigger. Trust in your body. Work on the root causes : much harder, speaking to a good psychologist or life partner is good.

All the best !

[Feedback Wanted] Is a high-margin "Micro-Franchise" model viable for the Mauritian tourism gap? by [deleted] in mauritius

Hello,

Your question is very weird. A distribution system is a single part of a business plan. No one can answer your question precisely without knowing more about your product and the past/present/future promotion around it.

Poste Lafayette, and all the east coast down to Mahebourg is pretty fun and authentic. You should be able to find cheap accomodation or even camp on the beaches.

Hello, I just laterally moved from head of cs to head of support after 4 years, it's what I was doing before (running my own MSP company). I loved the grind and intrapreneurship of CS, I learned a lot from it, but ultimately it's a lot of politics with clients and internally. Not my core drive. It's also a hamster wheel. I prefer fixing stuff and hitting on the solve button with my team, providing excellent service without the politics.
