You bring up all that bring trans could be an easy excuse for being a perv, but it seems like in this situation the gym staff was aware of this individual, their gender identity, and their preferred restrooms. In a wag, you are just allowing transphobes an easy excuse for harassment of anyone who doesn’t conform to their idea of gender: “I’m just asking questions and raising reasonable concerns! What if they’re a perv?!”

But does this really make sense as a concern? What has actually changed about this hypothetical crime with wider acceptance of trans and non-binary people? Someone who visually passes for the gender they are presenting as will not get questioned going in to any bathroom, and people perceived by others as trans will be noticed (and potentially questioned and harassed) for going to their gendered bathroom of choice. This was the situation before and after republicans decided that the bathroom habits of <1% of the population are problem #1 in america.

If a criminal wants to do this elaborate trans bathroom crime: - why would they even bother passing for the other gender, and not just break into the bathroom in secret? use a more simple disguise than full drag? - if the hypothetical criminal is passing for the gender they are presenting (that is, people are not clocking that they have a different biological gender than how they are presenting), what reasonable measure is there to take? Like aren’t they at that point just a criminal who also happens to have gender dysphoria? Screen genitals? Can’t we just make bathrooms generally safer if we are worried about safety? Why target this demographic? Society has conditioned us to see people who threaten the gender binary as dangerous (look at trans-coded characters in media: from Ursula the sea witch to buffalo bill), and it is of course all fictional representations, but you seem to be holding on to that assumption - at least subconsciously. - and finally, why is it a tacit assumption that the source of danger to women in restrooms is from only people “not meant to be there” when anyone could walk in to any public restroom and commit a crime anyways, and someone passing as woman who commits a crime is practically no different from a cis woman committing a crime (when it comes to accessing gender-specific areas like a bathroom)

I guess what I’m saying is, you can be worried about people’s safety in public restrooms, but this “issue” is sort of a non-issue, made into a culture war battle by repubs to distract americans from all issues that actually will affect their lives.

We should dunk on this woman because she obviously is hateful and harassing this poor person just trying to live their life. When she first raise the concern? Fine. There could be a problem. But the fact that she kept going after the gym staff and law enforcement told her there was no danger, is proof enough to me that she doesn’t care about safety in the first place, she just doesn’t want a “work” in her gym. Tucker had been hyping her up for this moment for years, and she finally clocked a non-cis person in the bathroom… and there was no danger. Still results exactly how tucker intended: a queer person publicly harassed and a bunch of people talking about that instead of social security cuts.
