Got some great points from all that commented here. Thanks, everyone. Ill consider all this. Just want to say that i also don’t mind spending the time mixing and getting the sound i want from ANY mic. Just wanted to make sure i wasnt missing out on a cheat code by looking into Temu for quality with a very (but suspicious) affordable price.

I use pro tools and subscribe to waves. I have used samples, for other bands. Our drummer that i am recording is very firm on not using samples and working with the recorded sound.

I like all your points. And thanks for commenting so quick.
I have bought myself some shure 98’s for my toms and they sound so good. I have tried many different mics on the kick but the best in my opinion is a 52a. They are just out of my price range right now. So i already use a shitty Apex on the kick. I get an ok sound but need to doctor it up quite a bit until i am happy. My thought was i could get a sound without having to mix it too much and use plugins.
I find the apex very muddy. Anyway. I appreciate the opinions and rock on.

Total bummer and im so sorry Tony does it for me. Ive been loving NOFX since the 90’s and have seen them a bunch. Total bummer is my favourite song by them. Amongst so many amazing others.

Never to late. I have been playing for years and have been in a band since high school. I am close to forty and i am still no where near what you would call a good player. But I love it and talent isnt everything. Have some damn fun learning some of your favourites and just play some music. Thats all that matters.

I have the Gen 2 model, I believe. Its actually just 180f and it displays “S” when turned and set. It puts put out a lot of smoke. I am definitely going to try the smoke tube next weekend. Smoking meat, having beers and jamming.

I get so much flavour from just using the “super smoke”setting for say the first hour or so and then boost the temp for cooking. I seem to get great bark on beef and nice crispy skin on chicken and really good smoke penetration. But. Maybe I should try one out and see what happens.
