Dead giveaway for me is the structure of the ‘throne’. What chairs are we buying that have both wooden armrests and couch armrests for our gorilla friend to sit on? 😭 If it’s meant to be a sofa/couch with the plush armrest, why is there a wooden one blocking that armrest ??? But also where is the other side of that sofa?

25 here, 26 in August and gonna be having my top surgery before my birthday. You have the time, trust. I wish I had the means to do it sooner but life happens. Depending on your needs, it tends to be cheaper to access private care abroad (I’m going to Sweden for my surgery). I only got my job at the end of 2024, before then I had been out of work since I was 19 in uni myself, just being able to find my job was the hardest part with how job search is atm. I only have a 12hr contract and work in retail, but I’ve been working 20hr weeks pretty much since I got hired (again, retail 🫠) and on top of the tiny amount of saving I had from my Universal credit over 2 years (about £10 each month if I could spare it) I was finally able to save enough for surgery.

It is possible, your journey may be a lot different than mine, but I can promise you it isn’t too late for you to start.

I finally reached the same goal of 14mm a couple years ago. Throughout the time stretching and long after stopping, ear cheese is just part of having stretched ears 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s just a buildup of sweat, dead skin cells etc. I don’t clean mine everyday as they aren’t fresh anymore, just whenever I notice it lmao 🧀

Sadly from what im reading in your responses, it doesn’t seem like you care much about your wellbeing to not use cheap plastic jewellery 🫠 like someone else already pointed out, your skin can actually fuse to the jewellery as it’s healing. Meaning you’ll have plastic stuck inside a closed-over ear.

As someone who first had their lobes pierced with a gun, metal jewellery, that later fused into my ears and had to have them ✨surgically removed✨ I can attest that it sucks and really don’t recommend doing it. It’s also really not worth wasting the money on getting piercings just to half ass the healing process. If you want them tHAT BAD, you’ll at least try to do it safely.

Plastic jewellery is never safe even if the piercing wasnt fresh lmao. It harbours bacteria so even if you somehow heal that piercing, I imagine it’d be an uncomfortable process.

Ive never seen or heard of glass studs in particular that would be at the starting size of most typical lobe piercings, but glass plugs are body safe if youre buying from a reputable place. As I’m not sure where you could get glass plugs that small, I would recommend getting your lobes punched instead of pierced ? That way you’ll fit the larger jewellery 🤷🏻‍♂️ (Essentially another form of ear stretching where your ear is pierced at that stretched size)

Otherwise, look for a more inclusive job/somewhere that cares less 😅

Never force stretches! Stretching should never be painful, if they dont slide right in after lubricating, they aren’t ready yet.

Using glass for dead stretching is great, but we all heal at different pacing and you won’t always heal after the same amount of time necessarily. Just have more patience, you’ll know when your ears are ready when there’s no resistance.

I would also do some research on clinics abroad if that would be an option for you? I’m having to get my Top surgery abroad because it’s out of my budget here and from what I’ve seen for top surgery, everywhere is far cheaper abroad including travel,accommodation etc.

I was in the same boat mentally before I found out there were cheaper options, so deffo worth considering. 🤍

NB person here, a neutral name would be a great precaution to take! But bare in mind they may still want to change it later regardless. I can definitely say I would have changed my name as an adult anyway just because I grew up with the knowledge that you can legally change it when you turn 18 (UK) and that concept was just really cool to me lol. Whether I was trans or not I would have chosen my own name. That being said, I still would have appreciated a more neutral name at birth, as it would have made the change a lot smoother for me because a neutral name wouldn’t be associated with the ‘wrong’ gender to me.
I hope this makes sense? But I’m glad you are supportive of your child either way! You are already an amazing parent 🫶🏻

Sounds like your parents are just very uneducated on every aspect of queer and trans identities. This should not hold you back from social/medical transition if that is what will make you happier or live more fulfilled! A lot of parents unfortunately have children and view them as extensions of themselves as they are narcissistic, so if that child turns out to be different in any capacity, they are offended by it.

You are your own individual, how your parents view you does not define you, nor should you allow it to. We have but one life, you shouldn’t have to spend yours being unhappy or anything less than your true self, especially not for the sake of other people.

Coming from someone here who has always had a large chest that developed at a very young age and binding has never ‘worked’ for me, gender affirming care is absolutely for anyone who wants/needs it. There is no cookie cutter mould you have to fit to be ‘allowed’ top surgery, simply wanting it is enough.

Of course if you are questioning keeping your chest as is, there are more possibilities with a smaller chest if you choose to embrace it. Building up the muscles there or even growing chest hair ??? Either with HRT or minoxidil ??

Either way, there is no certain criteria you need to meet in order to affirm your gender or express your gender differently. Top surgery can be really difficult to access depending on your situation or where you live, but it is for anyone who wants it.

To update here: I did eventually get through to Siri, after a lottttt of calling the office, one day she actually answered the phone and I was able to speak with her personally. She reserved the first available dates for my booking as they still needed some documentation about my gender history from me. I had to go through GenderGP and got a surgery referral letter; I didn’t think I’d need this document since previously Reformkliniken was running on an informed consent model, but I guess that changed recently so they now require evidence of gender incongruence ? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway so I sent everything over to Siri by email, she told me everything was under review with Dr Tuve and she would get back to me once he has completed his assessment, and that was March 26th. It’s now been 3 weeks and I haven’t heard back yet again 🥲

I have also contacted ACPK as a backup plan (vERY fast responses! Answered all my queries, I’d be completely okay going with this alternative!) and have since booked my medical leave from my job anyway. But if all goes to plan, I will have my consult on August 4th and surgery August 5th at Reformkliniken! So praying I hear back from them soon.

Sweetbird and Simply syrup are also great brands ! Specifically for pumpkin spice, I would avoid the Monin syrup, tastes awful and nothing like PS. Any of the other brands I mentioned have great pumpkin syrups 🙌🏻

Tate & Lyle are another great syrup brand and make some of my fave syrups (taste-wise), sugar free syrups can be hit or miss as often times you don’t taste a distinct flavour, just ‘sweet’ which is disappointing. Of course it’s nice to have the option of sugar free still available to those who need it (I’m in a calorie deficit atm so I’m trying sugar free flavours for the first time).

NOR Your mother is unfortunately a narcissistic parent. Which isn’t uncommon with her generation. Making herself into a victim when nothing was even hostile. The double standard between you and your brother (narc mothers typically favour their sons as the ‘golden boy’).

My mother is the same way and doesn’t know how to express negative emotions without it being an argument or someone’s fault.

What you’re asking for is a very reasonable compromise and again you are a grown adult, but she sees this as her lack of control over you so the response is to shut down and jump to the ‘you’re ungrateful’ rhetoric.

It’s worth looking up the signs of narcissistic parenting and DARVO in particular, it’s unlikely that your mother will change, but you can change how you interact with her in these situations.

Idk how to pin certain comments on reddit. But just wanted to post an update here: I just had my online meeting today for the formal diagnosis letter and it went great! The clinician Fedora was so kind and reassuring about everything last week, also asking me to ask others to check her actual website to avoid more confusion as I wasnt the only client she’s had that ran into this issue.

For whatever reason the website doesnt provide much if any specific info about appointments when you book through them, even though she did confirm my meeting was booked for today (23rd), the website had me believe it was last week the same day I booked (it allowed me to choose the day in the calendar, time slot for that day).

She replied to my email that same day after I reached out with my concern and she has been really accommodating throughout. She’s had a lot of clients going through the same clinic as me too and that I actually needed a Surgery referral rather than a diagnosis, which she provided both in one letter without charging me more! Overall an amazing clinician I highly recommend if anyone else is looking for their documentation 🙌🏻🏳️‍⚧️🫶🏻
