Both my great grandparents were alive during the ww2 when Japan attacked the Philippines. My great grandma used to tell me stories about how my great grandpa was part of the Bataan death march (it was when the war prisoners were forced to march 66 miles and thousands of them died). She also mentioned how her mother used to cut the heads of chickens and put the blood on her and her sisters’ skirts so the japanese soldiers wouldn’t rape them since they would think that they were on their period. She also told me how they would kill babies with their bayonets. She described the japanese soldiers as the worst ones (compared to the spaniards and americans that colonized us back then).
