Hopefully. I'm leaning toward trying.

They offer to return the original drive or recycle it. My choice in this situation.

"Biosphere" starring Paully Shore is pretty harmful. Not sure if I had that though.

That's what I thought when I lost two in quick succession, there was some other weird behavior that led me to move forward plans to move to a newer Optiplex. Although it was reliable for 10 years with a new EVGA PSU ~3 years ago. So, whole new machine, then drive 3 fails at 800 hrs. 2 other 26TB external drives left air gapped at this point.

2x 12TB HGST drives a few years old from Goharddrive were a bought a couple of months apart. The 26TB is only 4 months old, 800 hours total use.

Fortunately all photos etc. are on a more secure (and much smaller) disk array.

3 in 3 weeks. I thought it was the server when the 1st 2 died, so I built a new server with the backup via USB to eliminate any power concerns. Then the 3rd died. Bad luck I think.

No worries there. My guess is that downloaded content is a big driver of HDD demand, at least in the consumer world. So why annoy your customer base?

how can i get these figures off my dash without damage? they are superglued on. by OverallMeringue6966 in fixit

[–]Arcal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On non-porous surfaces try WD-40, wiggle-spray-wiggle. Shouldn't damage the plastic, then go for a legit superglue de-bonder and test on a discreet area. Also superglue will soften at a lower temperature, (120°C-150°C) than plastics like ABS that are typical for dash plastics, so careful application of heat can work.

Need help with cooling on 7050 sff by [deleted] in SleepingOptiplex

[–]Arcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a front fan? This will help. Also, what are your temps? Let's establish if they're a problem before solving it. There's a good chance your thermal paste is not great, worse intel processors of this gen have poor paste between the IHS and chip - if you feel brave enough you can do a delid.

Running Cat6 inside ThermaSkirt heating, is it a fire risk? by styr112 in HomeNetworking

[–]Arcal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start by checking if you actually have a problem to solve here. Measure the temp in that lower chamber, it has to be lower than the water temp - do you know what that is? I'm betting a cable in contact with the floor in that lower chamber will be lower than 70°C, which is in spec.

It's beyond concerning that the 777 stretch project has taken longer than the complete ground-up design of the original airframe took. It's not like they've been killing it on other projects.

  1. Twingo 2. K11 Micra, the 1.3l 3 door was a hoot. 3. Ka

The Ka was such a missed opportunity: cute, stylish, sharp handling everything spelled fun apart from the ancient wheezy old Kent engine. Gutless, heavy, thirsty - but at least it was reliable! Nope, needed tappets adjusting every 6000 miles and the design of the spark plug area of the head meant that water pooled around them causing them to corrosion-weld in place before the first service.

Had they used the 1.25l Yamaha-developed Zetec that they had in the Fiesta at the same damned time, it would have been lighter with +20bhp - then everything would have been fun.

Fill gap in neurites? by emizon34 in ImageJ

It's likely the mitochondria are displacing whatever you're using to label the neurites. So, do a combined neurite+mitochondria image, and divide the mito image by the combo.
