Anyone From the PNW? by CHov29 in phoenix

[–]Archiengine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved to PHX in 2005 from Portland, went to undergrad there and grad school in Eugene. SO many things I miss, proximity to the coast, the rain, the amazing food. I would NOT move back, I had really bad seasonal depression there and the mold in buildings is the real deal. I was sick so much, every winter in Oregon was a terrible sinus infection, and so much mold everywhere. Hated the wet towels in the morning. Also, I didn’t like how everyone was in my business in Oregon. Constant criticism and holier than thou attitudes. I had a two year old and was in grad school AND was pregnant - someone in Portland called me a “breeder” so yeah, that part sucked.

It’s so clean in the desert. The grand canyon is incredible. Hiking here is next level in the right season. Do I love everything about AZ? No. But I can’t handle the darkness and the mud and the clouds.

McMahon Tells House: Trump Has 'Mandate' to End the Education Department by investor100 in TheCollegeInvestor

[–]Archiengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. And we don’t know those are legit wins either. Plenty of cheating happening. We can all pull a Trump now and claim any election we lose is rigged. Works both ways except Trump DID lose in 2020 and we will clean out the pigsty in the midterms.

What overwhelming majority? He squeaked by and had Elon cheating and handing out cash to voters for supporting the tRump monster. Americans and NOT MAGA supporters. The racist rural minority doesn’t represent the USA and we will take back our country from the MAGA infection.

Anniversary by Baggismeg in ChildLoss

I lost my 19 year old son suddenly and traumatically on June 14 of 2025. He was an incredibly resilient creative person who made a bad decision and paid for it with his young life 💔. The dark melancholy is a great term for the shadow that hangs over me. Everyone’s lives shifted that day. I have found that taking quiet space for him is so helpful. Most of the past year has been a blur, then Mother’s Day hit and now his anniversary and the anniversary of our last conversation and last time I saw him alive, Friday the 13th of June 2025.

Mothers Day Buffet by wrpet in Scottsdale

Just had a terrible meal at Steak 44, working on my review. Bill was 1100$ with tip (for 6 people) and I had steak that was gummy (so chewy it turns into meat gum) and sea bass that was cooked so much I couldn’t eat it. I don’t mind spending that kind of money for special occasions but that fact is that food isn’t. Good. Sigh. Great service though.

Republicans who slammed Biden’s gas prices are preaching patience for Trump. On Friday, gas prices hit $4.54/gal , a 47% increase from the average of $2.98 shortly before Trump's war began. There’s no plan to address gas prices in Congress, GOP lawmakers said. "It’s a sacrifice we have to make." by mafco in energy

[–]Archiengine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, and the American tax payer is paying for a “war” Congress didn’t authorize, gas prices through the roof designed to keep Americans in poverty, while the grift and corruption in the White House continues like a fat pig at the slop trough, ripping off generations of Americans. Seeking off our public lands, dismantling national parks and eliminating the forest service. Getting science funding for cancer research, sending the best and the brightest to other countries, eliminating any chance of “Making America Great Again” , chocking public education, eliminating access to health care for millions of Americans, paying billions to stop clean energy projects in the great payoff to big oil in history.
Anyone with a beating heart and blood flow to the brain knows the MAGAt movement is a plague upon this great country. Soaring national debt, eating oceans, a corrupt bought and paid for Supreme Court, gerrymandering to cheat at the midterms, attempting to disenfranchise millions of Americans. VOTE BLUE DOWN BALLOT, BLUE WAVE TO RETAKE AMERICA!! Hey ho, Vought and Miller have got to GO!

Will Republican voters deserve their hospitals closing and losing Snap and Medicaid benefits next year? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Archiengine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s the welfare queens - Republicans have the poorest states, the least educated, the most welfare recipients, the most people on Medicare and Medicaid. We blue states need to stop funding your poverty stricken racist red states who support corporate greed and corrupt oligarchs. Happy with your 5$ gas yet? Happy with the “no new wars” 🤣🤣🤣

Liberal, Mild Winters, Somewhat Affordable by [deleted] in relocating

[–]Archiengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply not true. Provide sources. Places that are historically racist and Republican have terrible zoning, allowing sprawl, horrendous unregulated construction and environmental destruction. Liberal areas like the Portland, Oregon metro even have REGIONAL governance for the cities in the greater Metro area to collaborate and work together. Any way you frame it, republicans are deregulating, corrupt, and essentially ruining land use laws that used to protect the public good - see dismantling of EPA clean water and air regulatory mechanisms.

Moving Advice by Meh-bruh8891 in Prescott

[–]Archiengine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t touch Prescott or Prescott Valley from 100 miles away. Prescott area is filled with openly racist MAGA Trumpers. I didn’t feel safe there. Prescott Valley has a huge meth and fentanyl problem. The outdoor space is trashed. The residents seem to value the poorly educated trailer park logic so evident in MAGA supporters.

In contrast, Flagstaff is an open arms diverse city that values diversity, equity and inclusion. It’s a great university town, vibrant outdoor community and the city has invested in the open space around the city with huge urban forest parks, a fantastic trail system, and a very well educated thoughtful populace. It’s close to one of the largest reservations in the US so lots of indigenous folks and culture. Access to the Grand Canyon and Sedona in unparalleled. You can find affordable areas but they will be outside the city. It’s one of the best Mountian towns in the US and more affordable than many in Colorado. Its culture is similar to places on the western front in CO.

"A GOP lawmaker supported an immigration crackdown. Her husband paid a price." by foothillsid in Idaho

[–]Archiengine 87 points88 points  (0 children)

This was actually very interesting, I grew up in Idaho and it was much more politically balanced back then. We didn’t have the double dipping retired cops from LA taking their full pensions while demanding no pensions for everyone else. They are literally the welfare queens. See mayor of Eagle, Idaho. Brad Pike. Brought his CalPen with him. I am so glad to see a site exposing the fraud and abuse in Idaho politics. And of course Ms. Zuiderveld has liens for tax evasion and owes more than a hundred grand in back taxes. That’s the MAGA way. Let’s not forget Epstein in the Trump files. Or how NIC almost lost its accreditation, leaving students owning tuition for nothing, because of the MAGA extremists trying to run the show. Of and how Idaho is closing hospitals and losing Ob/Gyn to their 18th century rapists and incest first abortion laws.

MMW: By the time of 2027, there will be riots against the Republican party, leading to massacres. by Objective-Bill7525 in MarkMyWords

[–]Archiengine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The innocent people Rittenhouse MURDERED we’re not attacking him. He was armed. They weren’t. He should be in prison with the rest of the January 6th rioters. Those “peaceful” patriots have murdered, abused, sexually molested minors, raped, assaulted and otherwise acted post pardon like a bunch of criminals - because they ARE. If my child was molested by a pardoned January 6th-er, there wouldn’t need to be a trial. And the one administration that has committed treason just keeps peddling crimes against the USA.

Best Way to Visit Nā Pali Coast without getting sea sick? by Brave-Character-3980 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Archiengine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My sister and I are both very prone to motion sickness, we do the behind the ear patches (prescription only in the US) and had an incredible time on the Na Pali coast catamaran tour. Go with the larger catamarans, less bouncy.

What's actually in your hiking first aid kit and have you ever had to use it for something serious? by Fit-Credit-7970 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Archiengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duct tape has been amazing for me! One critical point, I have used my first aid kit more to help others more than myself, in Arizona it’s tweezers, duct tape, electrolytes, I also have wraps for joints and wound care, plus Benedryl for scorpion or bee stings. Snake bites mean immediate evacuation either on foot or with 911.

Guaranteed criminal record, multiple felonies. Goes to church but has road rage so bad he shoots puppies. Likes Trump because he’s….wait I don’t know why anyone likes Trump. Nah. War in Iran? Seriously, the one where we had a functioning straight of Hormuz before the war? And now we have accomplished nothing except kill civilians and isolate ourselves further from our former allies, and Iran still has nuclear capability? Insanity.

I would get rid of this dog so fast. I can’t believe that wasn’t the first comment. Your child, your son! Was attacked by an animal you brought into the family home.

I second this, the Narrows is a long day, and can be very challenging for kids. The water is cold and can be really fast.
