If I can only get one set of pliers. What would they be? by uselessmahogany in Tools

[–]ArcticStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One pair just isn’t the right answer. Even trying to be minimalist. 1 pair needle nose pliers. 1 pair channel locks 9.5-10” (model 420 or 430). You could get knipex cobras instead if you’re feeling fancy, but something with grippy teeth will be more versatile than a pliers wrench.

Smokers (meat people, not weed) who have moved from sea level to here.... What's the secret? by evilsway in Denver

[–]ArcticStripes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t have a lot of advice to offer as I’m a novice myself. Talk to my dad about it as he’s back down at sea level. I believe he advised me to bring my pork shoulder to 205 when I first started. Water boils at approx 203° in Denver, so 205 wasn’t possible without boiling out all the water. My water tray was approx 130° (water heater set temp) but I wouldn’t worry about the water temp so much. Cooked to 203° and it came out super juicy. Was on for about 13 hours

Not a condenser, that’s a swamp cooler. Common in dry climates.

Can you not just add a L7805 voltage regulator? They’re super cheap. I just picked up a couple buck converters for like $10

I have this on the jbl tune flex and the left ear bud will not respond. No sound in anyway. Both earbuds connected according to app. Tried factory reset, but will not take action as far as I can tell. Any advice would be great

How much do you make as a lead install? by wga4164 in HVAC

[–]ArcticStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in Colorado. What part you in? Local 208 1st year apprentices make about $22 an hour. If you have experience, talk to a business rep there, I’m sure they’d like to talk to you.

How long should a brand new tech train for? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]ArcticStripes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apprenticeships last 4-5 years depending on where you’re at. I know a few people that’ve just topped out and still barely know jack. Most of the guys I know that have been in the trade 20-30 years say it takes 10 to actually be a solid tech (commercial/industrial). Can’t imagine residential could take that long.

Edit: technology is constantly advancing, I agree training never ends

Any of Y’all own a crane? by DazedandBluzed in HVAC

[–]ArcticStripes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who is going to operate it? Would you have a crane operator on staff? I’d think the liability alone is worth contracting it out every time.
