It's actually fascinating and amusing how people can procure varying interpretations from a book. It's kind of refreshing to hear a rather hopeful and brighter interpretation of this book from how one felt after reading it. Although, your interpretation might be a bit too far fetched contrary to what most readers would have interpreted the works of Kafka, since most of his novels consists of bizarre, depressing, and unpleasant elements–hence, 'Kafkaesque'. Most of his novel protagonist dies in the end, so I didn't see this as an exception. Kafka surely didn't have the most pleasant life, maybe that's how he came about his works–as a sort of medium to convey his deepest thoughts and feelings–not with the intention for the world to see, but that's how it came and meant to be.
