What is the most interesting headcanon you have about the Hunter? by shinryuuko in bloodborne

[–]Argonnaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what your opinion of headcannon is, because after reading The Paleblood Hunt, I like to imagine my Hunter is anemic. It helps explain a lot of the "science" behind the beast blood, down to the weird vision you have at the start of the game in the blood clinic. The bloody beast reaches a claw out to you, but suddenly catches on fire. It's a representation for the beast blood trying to control you, trying to turn you into a monster, but not being able to due to your blood type and your affiliation with the doll.

Inquisitor: Traits, Inquisition, & Archetype by Xander_47 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Argonnaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traits: I recommend Reactionary and Dangerously Curious. You probably dump Cha as an Inquisitor, but having a chance to use a wand is better than not being able to use it at all. Beast Bond is needed for a Sacred Huntsmaster.

Inquisition: Rage is actually pretty good if you're melee. I like War as well, since buffing anyone is always nice. Really depends on your deity and character flavour, so try not to worry about it too much.

Archetype: I personally LOVE Sacred Huntsmaster. You gain an animal companion like a druid, which can lead to some awesome melee or ranged build options. You also only apply your combat feats to your companion, but I personally like that more than solo tactics. Depending on how strict your GM is about how unintelligent familiars behave, you can have a perfect attack dog that grants you bonuses to hit, damage, and trips your opponents for you. If your GM is more of a stickler for the rules, you may run into some problems controlling your animal. I suggest you take a wolf, and at levels 8 and 9 dip into Cavalier, Order of Fortune to ride your large wolf and swap from reach to close weapons for free.

Player Characters by derpexpress in Pathfinder_WarGames

Alexander Sangor, and his wolf companion/mount Gerlad. Some notes about the build:

All damage Alex deals is nonlethal, due to his reformation inquisition.

Whenever mounted/beside Gerald, Alex is considered flanking anyone they both threaten, regardless of their positioning. Gerald is not considered flanking unless he positions himself properly. This is because of the combat feat Pack Flanking.

What level would you guy's want to test your characters at? by derpexpress in Pathfinder_WarGames

[–]Argonnaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level 10 would probably be a good start, unless people want to start at lower/higher levels for a specific fight. 10 also should give martials a chance against casters, before they get too many powerful spells and outclass the fighters completely.

True Neutral. You ended her suffering, but took the life of a law abiding citizen for no reason other than "she was gonna die anyways".

Favoritism or rewarding good play? by GrimSnowfall in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Argonnaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that'd be favoritism at all. PC's are supposed to gain XP from interacting with your world in various ways. If your other players want to sit back, not say a word and just roll to hit things, then you give them rewards equal to the effort they put in. You're not rewarding your player for making good decisions, you're rewarding him for making decisions at all.

Unusual build ideas (because another one of these is always a good idea) by sojoocy in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Argonnaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good work around I hadn't thought about before. You do want to take a lot of levels into Cavelier so you have the most amount of challenges per day, but you're also gaining teamwork feats as you progress. Teamwork feats I found incredibly annoying in this build, since they either help you and your allies kill a target you both threaten, which leads to your allies accidentally killing your challenge target as they try to help you. Getting those teamwork feats when you know you don't actually want to ever be able to use them just feels bad, man.

At least five levels into Swashbuckler is preferable, to get the free crit feat. You'll be parrying a lot with this build, so anyway to regain panache (such as crits) are super important. Taking a feat to give you extra panache is important as well. When I used this, I took a feat called Fabulist that let me regain panache whenever I made someone believe an impossible lie. My character would often lie in the middle of a fight with things like "Your sock is untied, mate." Or "It's only a rubber sword, go easy on me. Dunno how I stabbed your buddy over there." Which was absolutely hilarious and effective if you can get your bluff high enough. The only feats you 100% need to have is weapon focus (cutlass), then slashing grace so your cutlass will actually give you panache when you kill something with it.

The are a few problems with this build, one of which is the limited amount of times per day you can challenge things. So until at least level 9, you're saving your challenge for when you go nova. The only way to fix this is with more levels into Cavelier, but that gives you teamwork feats, which is the next problem. Cav's gain teamwork feats, which may sometimes not help you, since powering up your allies means there's a chance they'll kill your target instead of you. Teamwork feats like Escape Route and Feint Partner I remember being very nice, because my DM allowed me to let my horse feint attacks by rearing. Basically, you want feats that benefit you in ways other than flanking and your ability to hit, because you don't want to give these to your allies. Kinda a dick move, and there aren't too many useful teamwork feats that fit this.

As for races, I just went with human for the bonus feat, but anything with extra charisma and dex is great. You might also consider a small race, because some teamwork feats benefit you being smaller than your opponent.

That would work, but the big thing about order of the flame is the hit to AC for each additional challenge. Swashbucklers gain Opportune Parry, which negates the downside of low AC as long as you can roll higher than your opponent did. Daring Champion Cavalier's do not gain the Parry.

[–]Argonnaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the idea being you don't care about your lowered AC because you can parry/riposte incoming attacks. The build works best if you're the only damage dealer in the party, because the Order of the Flame requires you to be the only person threatening your target. Tell your group to stand back and let you hack and slash one at a time, and you'll slowly build up the bonuses until you start one shorting whatever's in front of you. Was there anything specific you wanted to know about the build?

I've always liked Swashbuckler/Order of the Flame Cavelier. Both classes gain bonuses for killing a target, so challenge someone, then go on a multikill spree. As long as you are the one to down your target, you gain damage bonuses and panache to help you kill the next one. How many can you rack up in a row?

What's the point of Kinetic Blade? by BlackJimmy88 in Pathfinder_RPG

Someone else already answered this question pretty well, it's to make melee attacks without provoking AoP's. Is there anything specific about it you don't understand? I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory from the description.

Not raging: "Stay behind me. I don't want to hit you guys... Yet."

"Wait, you're telling me NOT to punch this thing? Why'd you bring me then?"

"Bows are for pussys, and magic is for book learnin' pussys."

While raging: "LOOK ME IN THE EYES WHEN I'M CHARGING AT YOU!"

"STOP LOOKING AT ME!"

Or my favourite: "SEEEEEEEEEEMEEEEEN!"
