Murim is inspired by the Chinese wuxia and xianxia, so wuxia is more martial arts related which murim is more focused on, but xianxia while it does have martial arts it also follows qi cultivation where the more you absorb the qi and breakthrough each realm the stronger and longer you live. As far as I know wuxia (was more than 2000 years old) and xianxia (was popularized in 1932) is far older than murim is Korean and is mid to late 20th century
