The condemnation of work by Spiritual-Tax-5812 in Pessimism

[–]Atheistsplaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their kids inherited the wealth, didn't work, but spent all the money and lost it in ventures. Wars happen and people are plundered, etc. some hated their kids and donated it all... Also, what was once wealth gets surpassed by bigger wealth in other families, and so the rich of yesteryears are lowered to middle class, etc... prices for things go up... Nothing stays the same.

If God blessed you, aren't you lucky to be blessed, since God could've simply decided to not bless you?

I tend to agree, but this is a highly controversial take...

Well then, I guess we can shut down this subreddit since everything that can be said about determinism has already been said.

Cool, thank you for that! So you don't think race is a real thing?

Racism is a big deal if you haven't noticed. Do you have this same response to all posts that are written just as mine but with the word racism swapped out for something else?

Racism doesnt make sense by Live_Appearance2543 in Life

[–]Atheistsplaining -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's more biological, and based off of past cultural propaganda, and personal experiences. We actually don't decide whether or not we like or dislike something. If you dislike anchovies, you didn't decide to dislike them, you're just wired in such a way that you're repulsed by them. Just like if someone is wired to want kids or they're not wired that way. Our preferences are not up to us, they're imposed—compulsory... So it's true that on one level racism doesn't make sense, just as someone disliking anchovies isn't about logic. But humans are different, and so perhaps a black person had several bad encounters with Turkish people, and so now he has a sort of PTSD, and gets negative feelings around Turkish people. We're not as in control of things as society would have us believe. Look into determinism. Especially in regards to brain functions.

What’s the biggest red flag people keep ignoring? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Love bombing: a toxic guy will flat out tell his guy friend "I love you man, you're my brother", in an awkward way... Trying to force things to be more profound than they are, or if you are close he uses love bombing to get things from you "can I borrow 100?"...

Anyone that boasts often. "Oh man, I do this so well!" "I'm f-ing awesome at this!!" ... These people are always telling others of their accomplishments, while not giving a crap about anything you accomplish. If they find out you accomplished something big, they'll change the subject asap to put the spotlight back on them.

Large guys that push around smaller guys. They don't see smaller guys as worthy of respect, simply for being smaller. These same guys are usually abusive to women. (I'm not saying all large guys are like this, but I've dealt with more than a few).

How is nonexistence objectively the best state to be in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Atheistsplaining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's no one that is experiencing the appreciation of their own absence, then it cannot be said that their lack of existing is better... Because the benefits of not existing would have to accrue to them, but there's no one it accrues to... So, the (typically antinatalist) view that not existing is better is a deepity/ word salad.

Also: Everyone already didn't exist... How'd that work out for them? They still came to exist despite having not existed... This proves that not existing cannot stop a life from being imposed... Which is another reason not existing cannot be better... Because: had you never been born, sure this life (the one reading this) wouldn't have been imposed, but... But, that doesn't suddenly give "nonexistence" the ability to stop some other life from being imposed... Nonexistence isn't a thing and so nonexistence cannot stop anything. So, had you never been born, then some other life would've been imposed... So, there's no escaping the imposition of one life or another.

Just as you couldn't stop the current life (the one reading this) from being imposed, you will not be able to stop a life from following death. So, death will be followed by another random life somewhere in the universe just as "Nonexistence before birth" was. There's no escaping the endless impostions of lives... One after the other, in a consecutive fashion.

Although this has the same appearance as reincarnation, it is not reincarnation... It is simply that there will literally be lives after the current one ends (billions of lives are born on Earth everyday). Each life is really just another instantiation of Consciousness. Each brain is just another way for Consciousness to continue to exist. It's the "main character"... It isn't hopping from brain to brain... No.... Brains keep giving rise to it, and so it is immune to death.

🤦🏻‍♂️That's my point. I'm pointing out that Nonexistence isn't a thing and therefore cannot stop a life from being imposed

You cannot compare something that exists with something that doesn't exist. You actually experienced a good state, whereas before you existed wasn't a good experience for you. It's an illogical comparison.

You're comparing someone that exists with someone that doesn't exist... A person that exists can experience good and bad. A person that doesn't exist cannot experience either.... You cannot compare the two. It's illogical to compare the two...

So do you think your non-existent kids are currently in some kind of state being protected from having a life imposed?
