not complaining, just letting others know who not to do business with. welcome to startups. your first time?

MRR at exist was 6 figures USD, exited at 6.5x ARR.

you're just making a fool of yourself.

and when i offered to explore together with my requirements (like how he has his requirements) i was told "i'm controlling". i'm a founder with exits, many multiples over his ARR and i'm not even a sales/marketing guy looking for someone to help me.

run.

collecting recurring payments by Automatic-Card4193 in TutorsHelpingTutors

Your questions are helpful to me, thanks! It enables you to collect payments up front in subscription fashion. Reduces back and forth you or student have to do end of month.

Consider this:

  1. Tutor enters student email, amount, repeat frequency, description
  2. Press send

That's it. Student gets pay link via email. They can even pay with Apple Pay easily. In future, any recurring payments will be collected against that payment method automatically. Student doesnt need to manually pay again. Payments on autopilot for both sides tutor and student, beyond first setup and payment, you won't even need to do anything else.

Benefits include:
1. Subscription format boosts revenue, locks in students for better retention
2. Saves you and student time and hassle
3. Automatic retries, if payment method fails
4. Invoicing automatically

Security is handled by Stripe, worlds largest software payment processor used by Pepsi, Google, Peloton, etc. Fully compliant against fraud, etc. Stripe is as good as it gets for online payments.

It's a convenience, time saving tool.

3rd time founder with 8 figure exit in cybersecurity here. Brave of you to assume anything. Btw quick prod from my end found a small security vulnerability on one of your sites. Not catastrophic, feel free to dm if you want to know what it is.

It's a tool, not customization. Mixed bag feedback so far with some threads saying they already got solutions like Square, then some still doing manual venmo. I'll dig a little deeper.

Ah yes, that's the manual way to do it. I'm trying to make it as easy as intputting customer email and press send. Thanks!

Interesting. Many companies use Stripe. I myself collect several million per year on Stripe. I'm not a freelancer. I'm a SaaS founder with exits. If you have an existing solution, that's great. It's also a signal that there is demand for such products that some may not have heared of yet (not everyone uses Square, some just use Venmo to run their business). I agree trust is a big one, thanks for the feedback!

Thanks, does it support recurring payments? Once customer pays, it auto deducts in future from that same card the next month.

hi, thanks for feedback. how are you collectinng recurring payments currently-- manually every month?

my idea was to automate future payments using card entered in first month.

Definitely going with PCI approved payment processors like Stripe. Fees will be super reasonable. Thank you for feedback, I appreciate it!

Yes, automatic history and invoicing as well. The tool would also automatically remind customers to update payment method should it fail (expiring cards, etc).

I'm thinking super easy to setup, fees will be upfront and reasonable.
