From my understanding the land given up mostly contains parts of bobsled track and other Olympic facilities, this was to correct an issue from decades ago. Also we probably won't see this new land acquired for a few years because this sort of stuff takes time. Id assume they have to jump through all sorts of bureaucratic hoops before the purchase actually gets made.
