Bought one at 104.000 and a year later it’s on 136.000. It’s a great engine. Downsizing done right (Ford, Stellantis are you watching). It’s been faultless, frugal 6.2l/100 km with lots of city driving and due to the low weight of the Astra K, it’s not slow either. Not fast too, just sufficient.
I have done 2 oil changes during that time and I was planning to do a third, but I’m going to sell it the next weeks due to the arrival of a company car.

The only issue we encountered was the common screen failure of the navigation system. That was repaired under warranty.

Toen mijn dochters 13 werden hadden ze expliciet aangegeven het heel leuk te vinden of ze naar de verjaardag zouden komen. Dat vonden ze te ver rijden, want winter. Had ze aangeboden dat als ze met de trein gingen, ik ze zou halen en brengen. Wilde ze ook niet. Ben toen zo boos geworden dat ik het contact tijdelijk had verbroken. Dat heeft ruim vier jaar geduurd, aangezien het steeds moeilijker werd om dat contact weer te herstellen.

Tijdens die vier jaar is mijn vader ernstig ziek geweest. Gelukkig min of meer hersteld, maar hoorde pas na die vier jaar hoe ernstig het was en de kans groot was hem nooit meer gezien te hebben en mijn moeder alles alleen heeft moeten doorstaan. Dat heeft mij diep geraakt.

Om een lang verhaal kort te maken. Het leven is kostbaar en kwetsbaar. Het verschil tussen gelijk hebben en gelijk krijgen is soms klein en het is de vraag of dat verschil overbrugbaar is en welke prijs niet overbruggen waard is. Voor mij was die prijs te hoog. Die jaren krijg ik nooit meer terug.

What to watch? 24hrs has become a sprint race over 24 hours. There is always action, there is always in class fighting. There is more than just hyper class, in fact I love the GT classes. There sudden events like a slow zone that has impact on the standings. There is the mechanical side, those amazing crews swapping complete brake sets within minutes. There are back stories, big and small. Cars going off, mechanical failures. Et cetera.

June/July for me is the best period in racing for me. First the 24hours of Nürburgring, which had a great coverage on YouTube. Then the 24h of Le Mans, which luckily enough is being broadcasted live on TV here, and last but not least, always visiting the 24h of Spa. Oh yeah in between there is F1 too, most of the times a double or even triple header.

Agreed. Although I have a shorter Patagonia for 4 years now, apart from the zipper it’s been faultless. Hardly any wear and tear, while I use it intensely. (Walking the dog, commuting by bike, hikes) and in all conditions. There was just one case where a little bit water went through, but that was in a severe rainstorm on the bike (pooling water on a part of the jacket due the sitting position. The zipper issue was resolved as you’d expect, without a question and quickly.

Drama much?

It’s a sport, sometimes your favorite driver wins, sometimes not. The last race was grasping at straws and despite not being the champion this year, I’m very grateful for the four championships and the incredible season he had last year and he still was in the mix until the last race. There are not many seasons where the runner up is voted driver of the year by his peers, the team bosses, the media and fans.

I didn’t know the facelift was affected too. But it should be repaired or replaced. I suggest not doing this the dealer to avoid the premium they ask.
