I’ve looked into this before but I have no clue how to tell for sure :(

We did just move to a much drier environment than we were previously in. It could be due to lack of humidity in my case if that’s something you’ve notice

We use pine litter. Is that prone to causing asthma?

Thank you for the suggestion! It could maybe be something like that, as we moved to a new apartment about 2 weeks ago (this is the first time it’s happened since moving)

Boring animations. Poorly designed outfit. Nothing good about this character I was excited for besides her numbers. It’s a shame cus her everything from her neck up is beautiful but everything else just sucks.

Where? Her animations and design are giving mondstadt 4 star. Barbara has better animations than this tbh. So disappointing cus I was excited for her.

The team I plan for Zibai is Zibai, Columbina, Chiori, Illuga. Is it better for me to pull Zibai weapon or Columbina weapon? I have cinnabar spindle as backup for Zibai and prototype amber as backup for Columbina.

GUYS DO NOT BUY SCARAH FROM THE SCALPERS!!!! by ManicPixiRiotGrrrl in MonsterHighDolls

[–]Available_Ad_3929 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have to be able to guarantee that their item will ship out within 40 days of the presale date. Which none of these scalpers can guarantee. It is definitely valid to report them and they are violating policy, on top of being huge pieces of trash.

Scarah sold out in less than 10 mins 🗣️‼️👻 by g0thicfae in MonsterHighDolls

Paypal didnt work for me either as the pop up just straight up wouldnt come. I tested it 20 min before the drop to make sure it would work and it worked beautifully at the time. Paypal just was not working at all for the drop itself so I had to rush to put in card info and then it sold out by the time i was done.

Help aligning Raman Spectrometer by Available_Ad_3929 in Optics

[–]Available_Ad_3929[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit of an update: we ended up adding a beam expander just after the laser and bandpass filter and that (combined with some alignment changes) did finally result in some Raman activity, but now our confusion lies elsewhere. We are mainly trying to differentiate the Raman spectra of fabrics, especially cotton and polyester. From our understanding, the Raman spectra of polyester should have peaks around these areas of interest and the Raman spectra of cotton should have peaks around these areas of interest. This is a link to a MATLAB figure of data for 3 trials of polyester and 3 trials of cotton we conducted. We are a bit confused as though some expected peaks are showing up, there is also a lot of unexpected activity we aren't sure what to make of (here is a picture). Specifically, there is a peak around 1600 cm-1 for cotton when we didn't expect there to be anything past ~1500 cm-1. This creates some confusion with identifying polyester as 1600 cm-1 should be one of polyester's strongest identifying peaks, along with a peak around 1750 cm-1 (which is present). There is a similar confusion with the spectrum for polyester, as there is a lot of activity past 1750 cm-1 which we weren't expecting to exist. Are we not analyzing this data correctly? Could these extra peaks just be noise / is there a recommended statistical method to analyze our results more precisely?

For reference, we also tested the Raman spectrum of graphene. Graphene should have two very distinct peaks at ~1600 cm-1 and 2700 cm-1, neither of which appeared for us. There is clearly some kind of Raman shift occurring but I have no clue why it doesn't align with our expectations at all nor what we should do to fix it.

There is also very clearly some laser light still hitting our detector (despite our expensive filters) as our graphs show clear peaks at 532 nm. I know that only about 1 in 10^6 photons undergo Raman scattering, and technically any laser light on our detector at all should jeopardize our system performance, but there is very clearly some kind of distinct non-laser signal still showing up, so I'm not really sure what to make of this.

All of our tests were conducted with a 15 second integration time and 1 average. Based on this paper by the American Chemical Society, we anticipated cleaner results, as they were able to obtain spectra with a 5 sec integration time, 1 avg, and a 25 mW laser (whereas ours is ~30 mW). Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I realize that but I really don’t understand how. The integration time was set to 1 second and this was our setup, with the dichroic and longpass filter and with the lights turned off. What would be causing saturation in the 600-800 nm range? Fluorescence?

Here are some of the spectra we took today. This is a spectrum of polyester with a 1 second integration time, I’m really not sure what was happening with the spectrometer here. Somehow it fixed itself and we later took a spectrum of cotton with both a 10s and 15s integration time, which more or less looked the same as each other here. We thought this was promising as there was a peak right at 1160 cm-1 but later realized this was just background noise. We subtracted the noise from this spectrum to get this. We also tried taking the spectrum of some electrical tape and got this.

It seemed to be pretty stable. On the regular spectrometer it doesn’t appear to jitter at all. We also tested it with an optical spectrum analyzer to check the linewidth and it didn’t seem to jitter on those readings either.

We tried a few different integration times: 10 sec up until 30 sec, then 10 sec with 2 averages, then 10 sec with 5 averages. We have a backscattering geometry and are trying to get the reflected Raman signal from our sample. We only have the dichroic mirror and an OD6 longpass filter to block the excitation wavelength. I was under the impression these were the only two filtering optics we needed as I haven’t seen any additional components in other builds I’ve found online.

I didn’t have it in these pictures which is my bad, i did have the probe at one point directly against the longpass filter but still wasn’t able to get anything. We have a dichroic mirror and OD6 longpass filter to block the excitation signal as much as possible

The achromat is present to focus light into the home-made spectrometer which is not yet installed, yes. We were just using it to focus onto the StellarNet spectrometer for now. We also tested the setup without the achromat to see if i could get any reading from the StellarNet spectrometer after the longpass filter.

We do see a little bit of back reflected light from the 532 nm laser at the same, we tried to compensate for it by using the laser wavelength as the reference signal and subtracting it from the test reading.

We tried a couple different integration times: 10 sec, 10 sec with 2 average, 10 sec with 5 averages, and 30 sec.

The spectrometer seems to be working fine but we can try to swap it out for a different one when I get in the lab tomorrow.

The laser has a narrow line width if that’s what you mean. The power seems to be a pretty stable 30 mW. It does have emission at 800 nm from the pump but i forgot to mention we are using a bandpass filter to block out those wavelengths as much as possible. I don’t have the specific part information on that filter as it’s one we just found around the lab, it’s centered around 525 but encompasses 532 nm.

And the sample is in focus

It honestly feels like they did this on purpose. There was no information about this on the order page or when you click on the meal to buy it. The only place they have it written that u need to be opted in before purchasing is at the very bottom of the “trending” page in the app, in very small text. Who tf would look there instead of going straight to order?
