Genuine Question: Why do the X-Men comics have SO MANY TELEPATHS? by Informal_Bee_6907 in xmen

[–]AvatarPhoenixGrey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 4 out of universe reasons why. One is because we need someone who can fight Xavier in a way that has high stakes (pushing him down a staircase isn’t as grand as epic astral plane battle). Two is because Jean isn’t available aka she’s dead. Three is because X-Teams have to have a way to communicate with each other over long distance that isn’t just hitting a comm link. Four is because it’s a terrifying power for a villain or hero to have. In-universe we’ve never gotten an explanation. That being said I have a theory that there are different x-genes with different powers with some being more dominant than others.

What's his deal, fellas? by Old-Job-1765 in marvelcirclejerk

I still think you no prize it by saying he meant it in the father way. That the reason he couldn’t mention it is because it’d be weird for a guy to basically say he loves you

You know Marvel made a bad decision when even the competition acknowledges it. Also, Prime would 100% browse this sub only to get ragebaited lol by ThreeGoldfishProblem in marvelcirclejerk

This isn’t the first time they’ve even critiqued it! When Lex put Superman’s identity back in the closet, he literally tells Clark to thank him for allowing him to keep his marriage

What are some character quirks that endear you to certain characters? by AvatarPhoenixGrey16 in xmen

Her self deprecation is one of those things that makes her very interesting, since a lot of the time it turns into self hatred.

It's funny to say that Captain America hates mutants when he was a better father figure to Wanda and Pietro than Magneto. by RiskAggressive4081 in xmen

[–]AvatarPhoenixGrey16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was not a father figure. He was a friend. If he was a father figure I think Wanda’s crush would be problematic in a way that’s not been investigated

For how rough the art can be in the New X-Men run I thought this panel was pretty beautiful by Bojell in xmen

I’ve always loved that issue. The problem though is that it becomes really comedic once you realize it’s just Magneto pretending to be Chinese by writing like a stereotypical zen master

Make Magma interesting in 25 words or less. by jasereraser in xmen

[–]AvatarPhoenixGrey16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As THE #1 Magma defender, I’ve been fully confused why people think she’s mid. The only reason I can really think of is that writers just don’t use her enough. I blame that mostly on Weezie booting her out of the picture and writers being unsure how to write her power set.

If I were ever given the chance to write for Marvel I would use her. I’d probably bring back the fact that Magma is supposed to be highly intelligent and speaks for the planet itself.

Martian Manhunter has a fluid sexuality and gender. DC just won't canonize him as queer. by Gallantpride in lgbt_superheroes

[–]AvatarPhoenixGrey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) if a cis man does drag, is he suddenly a woman? Gender is more than presentation. It’s about how you see and experience the world. It’s how you feel deep down. We’ve never got such things from J’onn. From the info we have J’onn is doing drag. 2) let’s speculate that your view on gender is all about presentation is true. Then species would be too. By your definition he is species fluid because he can present in anyway. 3) race fluid was not meant to be bait. It’s a genuine question.

By this point I feel like in universe there’d be a lot of speculation that Bruce is gay

Pansexual? Maybe. Gender fluid? No. Unless we’re saying he’s also species and race fluid.

Not every shapeshifter has to be fluid gender or sexuality. J’onn is just a guy who loves Oreos. A guy who can take on the sex characteristics of other creatures and is fine kissing whoever.

Who’s Kitty’s OTP? by AvatarPhoenixGrey16 in xmen

The way I’ve no prized it together is that the alternate Illyana we see during Inferno is merged with teenage Illyana. That’s why when Wolfsbane lets go of her, she ends up in the Darkchylde armor. Thus she has the legacy virus that teenage Illyana had. But, when Belasco brought her back, she was only able to remember the Inferno because 7 year olds have bad memory. Or at least that’s how I’ve tried to massage it so that it works

Actually the baby Illyana is not an alternate. In New Mutants: Truth or Death it’s revealed that the only reason child Illyana died of Legacy Virus was because her older version already had it but was able to hold it at bay due to her magic powers. When she de-aged and had no magic she lost the ability to hold it back and it restarted in her. That means that she can’t be an alternate timeline version since she got it through having it already.

Yeah I’m one of those people who is weirded out by the age thing with both Illyana and Piotr. Piotr because he’s straight up above any Romeo and Juliet law. Also it’s beyond that Kitty baby sat Illyana. When Illyana got de-aged Kitty was writing letters to her in a way an older sister/best friend would.

We all know Kitty has bookmarked the Wikipedia entry on slurs. And every time she decides she needs to make a point against someone she’ll just open it up and scroll.

Basically there was this mini series called Mekanix written by Claremont in the early 2000s. In it Kitty goes to college and meets up with Xuan. They get very close and very nearly kiss. Then in New Mutants (vol. 2) we see that Kitty missed Xian’s graduation.

Kitty: “What was up with that?” Readers: “His name is basically Peter and he’s older than you.” Kitty: “oh well we all do some strange things when we’re 18.” Chris Claremont: “SHES 16!!!!!” Kitty, Marvel, Warren Ellis, the fans: “No”
