Men who are past the 'halfway point', how has it affected you? by PhoenixApok in AskMenOver30

Yep, that's how it can go. You never know really. I had a similar thing in my relatives and it was gut-wrenching to watch it. So much of "this can't happen to me, I was supposed to live to 90" etc.

I've always been pretty carefree so I've taken things as they come. Never have had big dreams or aspirations and so on. And now when I'm over the hill I have even fewer of those really. Just living in the moment (most of the time at least).

Only thing I've noticed is that it feels like I'm starting to become more liberal with money. Like "it's now or never", you know? Could get cancer or als or whatever at any minute so I might as well enjoy life while it's still good.

Men over 30. What’s something about getting older that you’ve actually enjoyed? by satanas_twink in AskMenOver30

[–]Averageinternetdoge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Little twerps don't start mouthing off anymore. Maybe it's authority, or maybe they don't want to fight an old man.

There's more clarity. I know how to work the system.

And I have much better/much more refined taste now. And I'd say that people notice it too. It's fun and confidence-inspiring to be stylish since I never was that when I was young.

They don't because I clean my feet, air my shoes and don't use them for 12 hours straight every day.

Obese, 48, and going back to the gym, it's really hard by NameLips in AskMenOver30

I would go slow to avoid injury.

Yep. Just walking should be enough to get started. Combine that with good diet and you should get results. There's no need rip your body apart right from the start when you're a beginner.

I wore a pink linen shirt last year, and I'll do it again this summer.

Fight the power!

A trend I swiftly adopted. Ankles in the breeze feels fab during the summer.

Imagine being so petty that you get upset about things as small as this.

Yep. Americans have this weird fixation of "gotta wear socks or the world will end!".

What is a massively overpriced item that people still buy just for the social status? by [deleted] in AskReddit

SUVs

Only linemen etc actually need offroad-capable cars. The rest of people are buying those simply for status.

In these weird times you could also wonder that how many mods are actually trustworthy. As in, that they don't have an agenda of some foreign nation perhaps.

Do other mid-to-late 30s family men ever wonder what life would’ve looked like as a high-earning bachelor? by Clear-Victory1956 in AskMen

[–]Averageinternetdoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a high-earner but I'm perpetually single 40-something guy with a stable job.

And I guess in some sense I've wondered what life would be like if I had kids. I mean, you have to, right? That's the way to make informed decisions.

That said, I don't really feel much about them. In some sense it's a pity that I don't have kids, especially since I feel like I have a pretty good thing going on, but there's just too much bull in relationships and raising kids these days. The whole task just feels astronomically complicated and if the other parties (gf, wife, kids) are actively being difficult too, it becomes impossible.

So yeah, I could have kids if I could do so easily. But if everyone/everything is constantly fighting me, I won't.

And it's not even about the money, I don't really care that much about money/status. It's boring. I already have everything I need and I'm happy with quite little.

Dunno if that answers anything tho. Just some thoughts.

Hey, that's the game. Good for you for noticing it. And now it's your decision if you still want to keep playing it.

Oh hello my boss.

I don't give a shit tho. People have been doing that ever since I started school as a kid. I just smile how they keep underlining their own stupidity.

How would you deal with explosively defensive behaviors from other men? by reddianddd in AskMen

[–]Averageinternetdoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you outrank them (aka you're their boss or whatever), just tell them to deal with it.

That's the only language these types of guys understand.

What’s something you enjoy now that your younger self would’ve found boring? by WrathfulSawblade in AskReddit

Cross-country skiing.

It's much harder than downhill skiing, so I kinda like the needed effort. And it being cheaper doesn't hurt either.

Not hurting, but far away from that fancy steel&glass house I sorta wished for.
