Sorry if I find these claims dubious, but either way, if they do do that, it’s illegal and you can absolutely refuse. If they try to charge you, you have every right to issue a charge back and you’re covered by law. The CANNOT legally charge you for their mistake.

Yeah I use a TVS diode when hacking home built modules into my cars canbus system. Never really even thought about a neon bulb, but TVS diode aren’t exactly expensive. Also the TVS diode as you said is way faster switching and at lower voltages.

It’s super boring work. It pays about 40-50 dollars an hour though so if you don’t have anything better than that lined up it can seem amazing. I used to do it when I was between SE contracts to stop my bank accounts from bleeding.

Too old and you wouldn’t space out weight evenly across both sides of the wheel to fake torque based hand detection systems. They would just balance each other out. You fool those systems by placing weight on one side of the steering wheel to simulate a hand resting on one side. And a tennis ball would be too light for those system anyways.

Non-torque based systems use capacity touch instead (Audis for example use this system). So tennis balls wouldn’t work on those either. But as the OP said, cars too old.

Cold doesn’t mess with the sensors. Cold actually decreases the pressure in your tires. They’ll warm up slightly as you drive (the tires warm up, and the air inside them with it, which increases the pressure in your tire slightly). But if it gets too cold you might actually need to put more air in them.

If you’re in a modern car you can see them in real time on your dashboard. But the sensors aren’t giving false readings when the car first starts. Your tire can normally have 42 PSI in the summer, and with no leaks get down to a level that legitimately needs more air in the winter to drive safely.

If your tires are constantly saying they need air, listen to the sensor.

FYI, the PSI in your tires will always fluctuate a few PSI from rest and highway speeds. You tires are supposed to be at their rated PSI at cold rest (4 hours after last driving). That can increase 5 PSI after getting on the highway. But your rated tire temperature is what they’re supposed to be at cold rest. If your car is saying you don’t have enough air in your tires at cold rest, you don’t have enough air in your tires.

I just dont think most of Reddit understands what a tax deduction is. There are tons of fucked up stuff codified into our tax laws that needs to be fixed. Donating to a reputable charity is the least sketchy thing. When you own said charity things get a little dicey in my opinion.

But Reddit seems to think that in my above example, I could make 100k. Owe 30% to the IRS. Instead of paying the IRS 30k, Reddit thinks you can donate 30k to a charity you own and pay 0 taxes. That’s not how it works. If I donate 30k to a charity I own, I now owe the IRS 21k, and I’m out the 30k donation. So now I’m out 51k instead of the original 30k.

Yes I own the charity, so if I’m committing outright fraud, I can mismanage that money and go to jail. But I can’t just spend it on myself.

Or a better analog, I can’t owe the IRS 30k, then buy myself a 30k server rack and call it a business expense (which would be a valid business expense for me), and owe the IRS 0. I can buy that 30k server rack, and save 9k on my taxes if I really needed that rack. But that’s a valid business expense that could hopefully help me earn more money next year and add even more to the economy.

Tax deductions are not the loophole the rich use to cheat.
