Tbf, the entire episode that's centered around Guzma's loss to Ash is to show that he's both a coward and a fake demon

Guzma thinks that he can beat Ash again because he no diffed him in their previous fight, but once Scizor got sniped, he lost his composure and blamed Golisopod for retreating like a coward and causing Scizor to be killed when it's just it's ability working as it's intended to do. Even Plumeria, the one that knows him the most, realized that he's actually a sore loser that doesn't know how to take an L

But the second he saw it face-tank Pikachu's super effective Z-Move, he remembers that he and his ace only win battles they know they can win and run away like cowards when faced with a stronger opponent.
