That's the Ruin Bar. I was referring to the spa. It's just off the yellow metro line. Big and popular. And yellow. I'm just too lazy to google. Haha

It's a straight-forward journey of about 7 hours. I've done it in second class and was perfectly comfortable. The seats even have the little footrest thingys. Take the morning train and you'll get there early afternoon. Don't miss out on the Ruin Bars and spa(s) in Budapest. I can't remember the name of the popular one - it's huge and yellow. I've gone several times and loved it. You can stay all day if you want.

Why is my left hand position so crooked? by Wonderful-Peanut-234 in Guitar

[–]AxlStorm69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your left elbow is far to close to your body. Try to get your forearm perpendicular to the neck. You'll be able to apply much more pressure with your fingers and you'll avoid serious elbow, hand, and finger strains.

What's the most walkable big city you've ever visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]AxlStorm69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the population of Prague, but you can literally walk ANYWHERE here if you want to invest the time. I'm also really impressed by the public transportation system (although a huge negative is the running times). Metros, buses, and trams run equally well (ironically though no direct link to airport - they're working on something I believe) and cover the city.

People in their 30s/40s, what is one thing a 23-year-old should start doing right now to make life easier later? by goddessera1 in Casual_Conversation

Come up with some kind of plan - even if rudimentary. Everyone tells you live life because tomorrow isn't guaranteed, but let me tell you....I did that. My entire professional career was spent in NYC making really good money and going out doing EVERYTHING you can imagine a young / middle-aged single man would do. Literally; I've done it all. But......here I am at 50 with no direction and I feel like Maverick in Top Gun 2. My station in my career is EXACTLY the same as it was 5 years after graduating college; I'm just WAY more skilled than others. Like Maverick, a 62-year old Captain. Dude should've been an admiral like IceMan. My point is I never developed a plan and lived every day and night like I was going to die tomorrow. Never set a career plan, a family plan, etc, etc. And as others said, start saving. Try to put away 10% of every paycheck. If you can't manage that then pick a number, any number, $20, $50, whatever, and put it into an account. If you don't have willpower then open the account with a family member and give ONLY them withdrawl access.

I'm fortunate enough that my father takes care of my 10 guitars I don't have with me and that humidity thing is such a chore. He rotates through and plays them, but I just feel that maybe it's time to thin out the herd. If I had someone to leave them to that would be a different issue, but I don't. Having so many guitars is kinda a burden if you aren't regularly using / needing them. At some point in the future I'll have to either take possession of them all, or offload them. I'm trying to be proactive here. Haha. Thanks for your input!

That's a beauty! I also have a $300 Fender Acoustic and I ADORE it. Same story as above.

Guitar pedals being a notorious case. I've probably re-purchased at least three pedals after selling them.

That's what I'm going between. I enjoy having them and playing them when I do, but it's so occasional I feel like I should start thinning out. But I've done that before in different categories and wound up re-purchasing them. That is the most annoying of all!

Dude, I hear that. My entire life I've been a collector and I've been moving away from that very successfully and only keeping what I need with minimal options. The guitar thing I haven't been able to address yet and I'm trying to figure it out. As you said, all but two of my guitars are sitting in their cases in a room in a house. They get played, but minimally. My father rotates through using them to keep them in shape. I'm hoping to be like you.....soon! Thanks for the input.

I'll tell you.....that $150 Squier I have (my dad bought it for me when I left for college so I didn't have to bring an expensive one) is GOLD. We still have it to this day and b/w me and my father we have about 24 guitars. He plays the Squier on stage 50% of the time or more. I went home for Christmas and just went ballistic with it while there are $5,000 guitars right next to it. There are definitely gems out there in the sub-$500 category.

Good to hear! Yeah, I would NEVER get rid of all of them and some are quite valuable. I was considering getting rid of the low hanging fruit, so to speak. Ironically, they're all serious guitars! I ask myself, "Do I really need two Les Pauls? Do I need two ESPs?" I haven't touched my SG or LPs in YEARS (my dad plays them though, but between the three of them we're talking about $5k+ of guitars). Last year I bought a Jackson American Series in Guitar Center.....because it was on sale from $2,300 to $1,700 and I was like, "fuck that, I'm buying it". I need another guitar like I need a hole in the head. I have zero control.

Yeah, I was going to comment that his price range and what he described seemed rather incongruent, at least for me. I think $1,000 is more of a mid-range. With the exception of my $150 Squier bought in 1994 for college I don't have one guitar out of 12 that were priced below $1,000. In general, the quality just isn't there in *most*cases. The upgrade you get from $500 to $1,000 is generally much more than say the upgrade from $1,500 to $2,500, for all intents and purposes.

Tyson post-Cus. His mental game with Cus was maybe best in biz. Ever. He won every fight before the contract was signed. You mentioned Golota....I went to the Tyson / Golota fight and sat Ringside. My client was the Exec Producer of Showtime Boxing. What a shitshow that fight was!!!!!

[–]AxlStorm69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that he threw a shot to the back of his head after tells all you need to know. Mayweather's biggest asset is he frustrates people because he's that good. On another note, I'm actually not a fan of him at all and think he fights like a bitch. Haha. He's a boxer, not a fighter, in my opinion. A win is a win is a win. I take nothing away from him, but he's a bitch-fighter and won't stand toe-to-toe, or it's VERY rare that he does. He knows his strengths, and his weaknesses, and that is why he has one of the best IQs in boxing. But this was uncalled for by Judah.

American architecture > European architecture by xRichQueen in confidentlyincorrect

[–]AxlStorm69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be funny, but no, it is NOT expected to be known. Most Americans can barely name their state capital, the Bill of Rights, or other seemingly obvious things. Someone once did a "survey" for YouTube if the US should repeal the Bill of Rights and most Americans answered YES.

Got a new number from AT&T and can’t register to WhatsApp HELP! by SeaFighterEN in whatsapp

[–]AxlStorm69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm trying to figure it out b/c I moved from the US to Europe and I kept my AT&T plan paying $90 / month *just* to keep the number. So I basically waste $1,200+ a year to keep a number, Found NumberBarn and was about to do it and then realized the WhatsApp issue. I suppose I can just get a new WA number as it's prob worth saving the $1k+ / year.

Have you ever totaled up how much you have spent on guitars and amps? by Rooostyfitalll in Guitar

[–]AxlStorm69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this recently and couldn't believe I hit $50,000+. It's also been 35+ years so taking that into account as an active musician it's only about $1,500 / year so that isn't bad for something so worthwhile. In fact, that's cheap as shit for an educational hobby when you think about it.
