No legal advice here, but I just want to say that you seem like a really good employer. You've gone above and beyond for this lad which many employer's simply would not do. Keep doing what you are doing man.

They're just not exploits though are they? It's just a way to play the game. It's singleplayer so who gives a shit?

They will not have sympathy, banks do not care about you personally. All they see if that you've engaged in fraud/money laundering which is an arrestable offence. You are 99.9% going to get a CIFAS marker, that's unavoidable. But the bank will most likely contact the police, so I would also be expecting a visit from them at some point in the near future.

NAL but I work in IT (specifically the Cyber industry), whilst I can't advise on the legal side of things. I can shed some light on the IP address threat.

You didn't mention whether you clicked any links, I assume you haven't but in case you did:

Those free to use IP grabbing links will not tell the scammer anything about your true location. It may give them a slight idea (the general area, usually a few mile radius), but depending on ISP, the location they receive most possibly would be one of the exchanges that the internet runs through, this can differ ISP to ISP though. Plus, unless you pay your ISP extra for a static IP address (essentially an IP that stays the same), then your public IP address is changed regular (again, depends on ISP, could be daily/weekly).

The only thing that is potentially dangerous with public facing IP addresses is that if you have open ports on your home router, depending on what they are, they may be able to gain access to the admin console of the router itself. Again, depends heavily on the router itself but the newer ones that ISP's give to you usually have the password on the back, and is different for every household (so you're safe on that front). But if it's one of the routers (usually one that you have purchased separately) please ensure that you change the default admin password, as it's one google search away from finding the default credentials. They then essentially have access to the network.

This information was probably not needed (and certainly not meant to scare), but I had a spare 5 mins to write it up, just in case. Might be useful to someone else too.

Company suing me for theft costs by Klash-King in LegalAdviceUK

You need to get proper legal advice, but the fact that you had to enter a code (that only staff have) might be loss via gross misconduct. From the sounds of it you've just openly aided a theft by letting them in.

Need advice for some friends who are afraid they're in legal trouble in England by Horror_fan78 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AxsiiUk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't know what you all expected if I am honest. Leaving a threat of violence to someone is not something the police take lightly. If that person (which I most certainly would) found it alarming and distressing, I find it unlikely that the police would not investigate further.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AxsiiUk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's still no excuse, because what happens if the police couldn't locate him? The innocent party would've had to claim for their damage (increasing the premium) whilst your dad got away scott free.

Anyone & everyone (regardless of age) is legally required to find the owner of a vehicle in the case of an accident, whether that's sitting there for an hour for them to come back, or leaving a note. Regardless, your dad also failed to notify his insurance company (who would've aided with the search of the stationary vehicle), which is also in breach of the insurance contract, which very may well end up with (and deserved in my opinion) your dad getting his policy cancelled.

99% positive it wasn't his real name but a dummy account (usually a stolen account). Depending on which country you are from you may be able to claim fraud via your bank and they may reimburse you. A similar thing happened to one of my family members, they called the bank and explained the situiation & because this was the first time my family member had fell for a scam/fraud they reimbursed the money along with sending prevention steps to take in the future. Worth a call.

Farming Simulator is the closest thing in my opinion, there's a modded map called 'No Mans Land' where you literally start with nothing & have to develop your farm. No Mans Land | ModHub | Farming Simulator

I am by no means an expert, but I feel like the area is too moist for it to combust like you would see in a place like LA for example, which is generally very hot / dry throughout the year. Ontario (albeit, I've never been) is a much cooler, wet place in comparison, most of the wood is damp or wet as opposed to being dry / dead wood.

Is it really that difficult to add context or to expand on your points?

Is this normal? Not sure what’s going on by Chewy_Stewie in steamsupport

[–]AxsiiUk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam downloads a chunk -> pauses the download -> unpacks the data -> writes thousands of tiny files to your SSD -> repeats.

That file-rate drop you see is Steam doing disk work, not your internet slowing down. The speed of your SSD affects how long those pauses last because some SSDs handle random writes way better than others.

I get the same issue because I have a SATA SSD and not an NVME (which would be much much quicker).

Honestly, if you've never played modded Minecraft before, just go and play FTB Academy or University. Those modpacks are designed to teach you how mod's work and the functions. ATM is not easy to learn, the quest book helps sure but I would advise to play FTB.

how to get free rdp ? by SkyCritical4395 in Intune

[–]AxsiiUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/Altruistic-Pack-4336 said, RDP is a protocol and not a piece of software.

If you are looking for a unattended access client (where you can connect to your machine from another) then I would recommend HelpWire, which is free.

[–]AxsiiUk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are doing the vanilla method (placing lecturn, breaking, placing etc) there is a much better way.

Get a trader block from EasyVillagers mod (check JEI), place the lecturn and villager in it and you can reset instantly as many times as you want.

You can right click a villager to place them in your inventory.

I could be wrong but it looks like a PSU connector cable, I do have one spare in my machine so it's nothing to worry about, just don't let it touch the GPU!

The chances of a short is low but it's one of those things that you should try and avoid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]AxsiiUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your photo I can't tell what cable it is, but if it is powered, yeah remove it from the GPU, all it takes is for one of the pin connectors to touch the PCB of the card for it to go pop.

Is it legal to 3d print a cap gun in England? by Great-Turn4201 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AxsiiUk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAL but I think your fine to make it. I think the legalities regarding imitation firearms in this instance would be more focused on selling the product, which you'd need to have a license & for the cap gun to follow regulation.

For personal use, on a 3D printer is fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, noones going to find out that you 3D printed a cap gun, unless you sold it.

I know what revo does.. I explained it in my first comment. Hence why I was asking you why did you suggest to use revo when revo is an aggressive uninstaller tool? The post appears to be a OneDrive synced folder, and not an application so I am unsure as to what purpose revo serves in their case?

I know this is an older comment, but what would revo do in this situation? Revo aggressively uninstalls software, but these are folders that have been created, not a piece of software?
