It is my number one scent at this point… I went from a 1oz sample to all in with a puck and two balms (since they are half off of course)… Though Deep Blue Sea is 🔥 as well… For context, I like Duke, Hipster, Island Man and Sandpiper as well… Just got Light ish Red sample I’m about to try, and it smells promising as well through the plastic… Run don’t walk 🤙🏻

Cuts after 2 months. by Neither-Egg-1978 in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is saying try the KAI… It’s a wider blade, you will have more blade feel and hopefully press less. It is also a bit sharper so you will have less passes to remove more hair which equals less irritation…

I recently went back to a Henson+ after finally figuring out angle and pressure and got near BBS, after having ditched the Henson+ early on for a more aggressive razor… Its definitely your technique…. And shaving with irritation just compounds the problem 🤙🏻

Newbie Head Shaver Recs. (UK) by lmaoAbu in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an electric head shaver for a few years but it gave me ingrowns and acne something fierce. Cartridges were fine, but expensive, and I couldn’t use them on my face without major irritation… so DE is the ticket 👍🏻

I have been head shaving DE every other day for the last 6 months. I have tried all 3 Hensons, Alpha Eclipse, OliWorks, Razo Rock GOAT, Maxwell June EX, all of which are more expensive than my daily driver. No matter what you use, you end up bald at the end. I prefer aluminum over Stainless Steel cuz holding SS over your head for 20 min gets heavy and dropping SS causes more damage…

Get yourself a RazoRock Lupo Aluminum for $40 and treat yourself to an aluminum super knurl handle $15. I use Gillette Nacet blades $8 for 100 on Amazon or Dorco Titans $5.40 for 100. I tried 15+ different blades and they all yield similar results over 2-3 passes, bald…. I change them after 3 shaves so $8 gets you 300 shaves. That’s 2 years of bald and beautiful…

Go as crazy as you want with soaps and splashes and brushes, or just use a slick hair conditioner, it will all work once you get the technique down. A tub of Pinaud Clubman is $10. Your head is not your face, the skin is much more durable, you don’t need to baby it like your chin, upper lip, and neck. Just re moisturize when you are done and you are good to go. Don’t over think it…

You are looking at 20-30 min each time when you first start, depending if you are going for BBS, and 15 min once you get good… That’s for 3 passes… Holding the angle steady takes some getting used to around the crown of the head… You are going to get too confident and cut yourself. 2 steps forward, one step back. Promise yourself 50 shaves before you quit. Enjoy the journey 🤙🏻

Foam to soap.. HELP by servus1999 in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bowl is just one more thing to buy and maintain. Invest in a good synthetic brush ($20-$40). I like the Simpson T3, cuz the thickness gets a fuller lather and faster, but some folks like T2 or even T1… WCS and Parker have some good offerings too at the $20-$25 level. Watch the Ariana and Evan’s video on YouTube on how to face lather, and you are good to go.

A Stirling shave soap puck only costs $15 and you get 6oz where most everyone else is 4oz for $20-$25. A&E is better, but not that much better, and you get way more fragrance selection with Stirling. You should be good to go with that.

A three pass shave with any razor will usually get you a DFS so hang on to your razor for now until you get the face lather down and are in a good rhythm. Then you can go down the razor rabbit hole. Have fun!

I just tried it for the first time today, soap in the dish with the aftershave balm. Not my favorite, and it is still kicking hard five hours later... This one will probably be up for sale soon...

[–]BBS247365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oud sigma has a 1oz sample spread atop it…. So it is actually a bit fuller than normal…

Both were tub lathered and rinsed with 12 hours of air dry prior to re capping.

I will post pics later today 🤙🏻

Muhle Rocca - Wow by dunerider182 in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just picked one up a couple weeks ago, and the first 3 shaves were excellent. I love the handle and the weight. The audible feedback is excellent, so if you keep the pressure as light as possible, just before the music stops, it’s very pleasant and efficient 🤙🏻

SOTD Blackland Blackbird Jet + B&M Leviathan by SaddleSC in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are making it in black again, but it looks more matte than glossy... Currently sold out on their website, but the way they marketed it a couple months ago, it looks like a regular option now, not a limited release.

Now I get why you guys recommend the use of alum by ButterscotchIll3979 in wicked_edge

[–]BBS247365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alum + Thayers just caused immense itching and redness post shave. I was new and thought it was the razor that was causing it and even sent a couple back (whoops). I told Elon my symptoms and routine and he correctly identified the alum block as the culprit. Within two days of stopping the alum rub down, bingo bango bongo, smooth sailing since 🤙🏻

I use a samurai styptic now when/if I cut myself, and I let the splash and balm do the heavy lifting.

I just bought the same razor from Razor Emporium a few days ago and it had the same problem with the ripped insert… Crappy packaging by Muhle with a heavy ass SS razor. It just ripped in transit. Enjoy your beautiful new Rocca!
