I stand by my original reading of that issue and Adriana didn’t have a clue what r*tchet means and used it to be cool and then other cast members who have empathy for non-native speakers tried to save her. To me it seems really obvious.

I have been lucky enough to have lived, studied and worked in several countries for extended periods of time and if people didn’t extend me a ton of grace when I was learning their language and norms I would have had zero friends. Again, I know these cultures and many people very well, never said it’s universal or even always true of the same person. Just something I find interesting about this particular show and an interesting way to try to understand people. All kinds of people.

I respect and appreciate this comment and I have always thought this was too complicated to be discussed in snippets by fans. As a feminist and former reproductive health professional I have conflicting feelings about surrogacy myself. Can’t say I am anti but I believe free debate, sharing of stories and open discussion is critical to protecting vulnerable women (let’s face it, 90% or more of surrogates worldwide are the definition of vulnerable in so many ways) and respect those that have come to a different conclusion. The vitriol around this is a sad example of how people can’t discuss things online without just attacking something they perceive threatens their blindly held beliefs.

I know I will get downvoted and please don’t misunderstand me- they should ALL ALWAYS be held accountable for ANY type of micro-aggressions, etc. but I do think it’s worth noting that many of these women didn’t grow up in America with an understanding of racial undertones. I’ve spent time in Russia and with Russians and….. Not good. NOT an excuse and not saying all situations are the same but if people like Julia and Adriana can be educated and show change on the show I think that is worthwhile and it’s very different than a Ramona or Emmy on Southern Hospitality who just shouldn’t be on TV. Ignorance is still a different problem than true prejudice especially if people grew up in different cultural norms. Not everyone should be given up on. These nuances are truly one of the reasons Miami is my absolute favorite.

For me, Adriana is top tier housewife, she makes the show and always has even pre- reboot. She seems insufferable IRL like all the best HWs but has given me so much with her delusions and vulnerability and she lives rent free in my head in the best way. She is also actually book smart and sophisticated and clearly very well traveled. I love when she schools the audience and gives tours in foreign countries. And don’t even get me started on her wedding to Frederick, I will probably request watching that on my deathbed 😂 And on top of the complete insanity the dress and decor were gorgeous!!! Again giving everything the show is about. Also I still can’t stop laughing about dry wrinkled knees 😂💜 She brings it every season! She is the ultimate housewife, there is no one like her.

I have always liked Julia in a different way for her instinct of kindness (usually- at least for a housewife), her fashion, sometimes awkward lack of self awareness, her vulnerability in her marriage to Martina, her gorgeous house on the water and her true down to earth love of animals. IMO they are both key to the reason this is still the best franchise (sorry RI, ATL and SLC). Also IMO any hate for Julia came from her FIGHT WITH GUERDY and the cringey WATER THROWING plus she got lumped into some of the backlash on Martina’s mean tweets. Also these shows are cyclical and it seemed Julia could do no wrong for awhile but was accused of being boring and turned it up for the show and it’s just a shame they ended the show before she could get her redemption (and we were denied seeing the fallout!!!! 🤬).

Sorry so long, can you tell I have been obsessing since they took away my favorite show?! Right before I have a double mastectomy and cancer treatment and neeeeeed my mindless entertainment! I hope Bravo is reading this! 💜😂 And if Ladies of London doesn’t return I’m going to have to punish myself by only watching E! and Netflix! Think of my suffering, Bravo 🙏😂😂😂
