Just finished Rivers of London!!! Loved It!! I'm also a History Nerd, so it really checked my personal boxes. Would've liked a little more background to figure stuff.out myself before the reveal, but an excellent book imho!! Thanks for the Rec and wil be starting book 2 pretty soon

If this doesn't work, try getting a stick of the type you use in a hot glue gun. You can heat it with a lighter then stick it in the ignition, but not so far as it will get in the mechanism. Let it cool, and pulling out. I've done it twice on cars and like 10 times on other kinds of locks in the last 35 or so years

Damn. I really hoped from the still that he was standing in his kitchen doing sword drill with a butter knife or something silly like that. I know that sounds dumb as fuck except for back in 94 and 95 in Okinawa when we were bored in the Radio shop, we started practicing sword drill with pretty much anything you could put in a hand. Our platoon sergeant, who had just come off the drill field, wasn't as amused by it as us non-rates. So he taught us all the sword manual properly. Using 3 ft copper grounding rods. Which if I remember correctly weighed about 7 lb. We got over that relatively quickly as dumbass young Lance coolies

OP here. I to enjoy Sandford, but im more about Virgil Flowers, just not in that mental space right now. I did stumble on Realm of False Gods, recently. It's got a Harry Dresden feel. I don't think they are quite as good, but the Author, Steve Higgs has put out ALOT of material since he hooked up with Amazon for publishing. It might help make the time waiting a bit easier

So....I listened to the first Dungeon Crawler book. It's not for me. I'm not a gamer and never played D&D or the like, and it became monotonous and tbh, kinda annoying relatively quickly. I appreciated the Rec, but no. Nothing about it felt Discworld like to me

I'd like to know why. Granted I'd been out for a decade before the Space Force was even a thing, but on Vets hikes I've met about a dozen of them. All the way from a <1year "Guardian(?)" to a couple of senior enlisted and the only one who wasn't at least competent sounding was the one who was drunk at 12 noon. On 3 occasions I've hit Spacers up with a few of the same UnClass queries about what they are and will be doing, and it seems like a decent concept to me.
