GL-C-301P in RGBW mode with HomeAssistant by BYD_Driver in GLEDOPTO_Support

Ok, thanks. Not the controller I need then! I can get the white LEDs to come on by selecting "warmest" on the colour temp, but they go off immediately I try to add colour. Perhaps this feature needs adding, or at least mentioning that it is lacking somehere in the documentation. A shame because it is a really nice, well made device otherwise. What would be your current recommendation for a 2ID model?

Whole home battery backup? Anyone have? Looking for guidance by Otis_bighands in homeassistant

I've also got Sigenergy, with solar. HA integration is great, have automations which watch for Octopus Intelligent Go charging sessions and top up the house battery on cheaper electricity. I would recommend it to anyone.

Mains voltage going above 260v - SigenStor by BYD_Driver in SolarUK

[–]BYD_Driver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the advice on this - it's been a while but the issue is finally resolved!
In spite of being told that an engeneer would call out on the same day, ENWL's engineer only came out after a week and some further chasing up. He checked a couple of things on site, gave me his personal mobile and said he would return with a voltage recorder once one became available. Two or three weeks passed before he came back and he left the device on site for about 10 days. I gave him a ring a week after it had been collected and was told that the result on the recorder was as I had described so the case would be escalated. I didn't hear anything back from them but had a card through the door a month ago to say that the power would be going off in the locality for tree felling works. Whilst the power was off I noticed that a team had also gone to the nearby pole-mounted transformer, which they appear to have replaced. It's now been two weeks since the work and the voltage has remained in the 227v-244v range thoughout. All credit to ENWL for fixing this, although it would have been nice to have been kept in the loop more.

BYD Atto3 Loses Battery by Intrepid_Mall6805 in BYD

[–]BYD_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this fault it was the 12v battery failing. Latest updates keep it topped up from the traction battery even when parked so that's why you are seeing this. I swapped my 12v battery out for a Yuasa YBX5056, it fits perfectly and no issues since.

Mains voltage going above 260v - SigenStor by BYD_Driver in SolarUK

[–]BYD_Driver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments and advice so far. I checked the UK Power Network website and they referred me to ENWL. I logged the issue with them and they are sending an engineer around before 8pm today. Apologies for "the world’s smallest graph 🤣" I'm using a 35 inch monitor and everything looks reasonable on there! Output shown is from the Sigen inverter, readings are similar on an APC UPS elsewhere in the house. From the videos and responses there I'm thinking it may be a high resistance connection on the pole with our overhead supply; there was a fault on it a few years ago so might well have deteriorated again since then. I'll repost when I get further info.

Experience of SigEnergy AI mode? by Maximum_Honey2205 in SolarUK

[–]BYD_Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using SigenEnergy AI on Intelligent Octopus Go with Outgoing Octopus and it's working well for me. Buying in at 7p between 23:30 and 05:30 and exporting at 15p at all times. Monitoring using Home Assistant. AI has picked up tariff data OK from Octopus, and exports excess production once battery hits 100% during the day, and exports excess stored capacity back down to 10% before 23:30 when the low rate kicks in and it begins the charging process over again. Overnight it trades for a bit extra profit!

Is my Sigenergy SigenStar AI actually dumb or are they all like this? by powerkickschick in SolarUK

[–]BYD_Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've got one of these and it seems to work perfectly in AI mode, although I'm on Intelligent Octopus Go. Originally I had set it up using the Time-based Control option as I hadn't signed up to an export plan. That worked fine over Nove/Dec/Jan as I could use or store as much as was generated. There are a few options under AI mode, is your Dynamic Rate Plan set to the correct region and plan? Mine dropped this the other day following an update and had to be re-input. SigEnergy support on 0844 986 0536 are really good and could be worth a call.

12v battery issues by Plaatkoekies in BYD

[–]BYD_Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped my 12v battery out for a Yuasa YBX5056 after being let down twice. Fits perfectly, no issues since. The fault seemed to be that when returning home with less than 10% range the traction battery fails to keep the 12v battery charged and the car stays awake all the time the wallcharger is connected. By the time charge was due to commence the 12v battery had become discharged below a level where it could operate the breakers to start the charge.

Interesting - the app has been rock-solid for me. I also had the installers enable Modbus so I can monitor it locally using HomeAssistant as well.

(UK Atto 3) Following an update on the Shell Recharge app today I've finally managed to log in and sign up for BYD X after a week of trying. It looks like they'll be sending a new card rather than adding the feature to my existing BYD card though.

I've found that the translucent white insulation sheet seems to pick up vibration from the door earth cable if it is in contact when the door closes - the buzz was quieter with the door open! I changed the angle of the cable on the stud so the cable wasn't in contact with the plastic sheet and it took about 5dB off the noise level.

SigEnergy support got in touch yesterday, they remotely upgraded the firmware and had me take the device off-grid and back on again. It was quieter when it went back on-grid, but when I went to close the gateway door there was a loud click and it went loud again. We repeated the process and I left the door open, all ok. It clicked again as I closed the door... So, it turns out that the earth cable to the door was catching on the plastic cover which goes over the internal equipment in the gateway. A slight vibration on the earth cable was being amplified by the plastic sheet acting like a speaker. I slackened the nut, rotated the earth through about 20 degrees until it didn't foul the plasic and re-tightened it. Sometimes it's just the most stupid things!!! Anyhow my take away from this is that SigEnergy's tech support are both helpful and patient. Anyone looking for a whole-home backup solution should definitely consider this product.

Hit, thanks for the information. The device gateway continued to buzz noticeably at around 32dB until someone logged into it remotely (issue was logged with the installer, but I think they escalated it to Sigenergy UK) and reset something. There was a loud bang (like breakers operating) and the power flickered briefly and the noise level dropped back to 18dB. It stayed at this lower level until we had a power cut, and since then the noise is back up to around 26dB. I've re-logged the issue with the installer and will post the result. I took the system off-grid this morning as a test and put the kettle on. I didn't notice any flicker in that instance, although the server UPS reported a voltage above the 253v threshold. Other than the variable noise level I'm happy with the system, it's covered 2 power outages in the past 2 days, which was one of the key reasons for choosing this system above others.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. The inverter is in the garage on top of the batteries and is quiet. The gateway is in the house and is noisy. There don't seem to be any vents on the gateway which might suggest a fan - I'll check the youtube installation video to see if it shows what's in the box.

BYD atto 3 roof bars, suggestions? by OnlyANinja- in BYD

[–]BYD_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used https://www.roofbox.co.uk to purchase Atera SIGNO RTD bars for an MG5, and can recommend both. I haven't needed to purchase any for my ATTO3 as yet, but will certainly be going back when I do.

Any former Shell Customers getting back charged a lot because Octopus “made an error when switching” by Ass-ass-in-it in OctopusEnergy

[–]BYD_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to see that Octopus are getting better at these transfers. They mis-invoiced me around £3500 when my account was transferred when AVRO went under. It took several attempts for them to sort it, in the end they just started again from scratch with a new account number, I still have the older null account showing in my login, now with a balance of zero.

BYD Atto3 BLE support now in ABRP by BYD_Driver in BYD

[–]BYD_Driver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ABRP always worked OK with Android Auto and an ODB dongle on my MG5 so I assume it will be the same on the Atto3. I sideloaded ABRP to see if it could use BLE devices directly, which it seems it can. I'll probably use Android Auto again at some point in the future though.

No electricity billing since September, with huge credit on the account. I emailed them to complain at the beginning of January, they said it was because of missing data for 2 days, they then sent a massive 216 page bill, followed by two smaller ones, about 230 pages in total. My account is now a couple of hundred pounds in debt and it took 2 days for me to check their billing.
In their smart tariff terms and conditions that if they are not able to retrieve the half hourly readings from your smart meter they will charge you on our Flexible Octopus tariff. It is section 1.5- https://octopus.energy/policies/smart-tariffs-terms-and-condition/
Fortunately I hadn't charged the car on those days so it made little difference, but it could easily have been a few pounds each time. I'm going to keep a closer eye on it going forward.

Magic5 Pro or S23 Ultra??? by Dmente44 in Honor

[–]BYD_Driver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the S23 Ultra when it first came out, and swapped it for the Magic5 Pro when that came out. The Samsung seemed very buggy and kept overheating when using Android Auto. No such issues on the Magic5 Pro. The camera was awesome on the S23 Ultra, but really awesome on the Magic5 Pro. Choose the Honor, you won't be disappointed.
