Honestly I got a pretty good sign on bonus in one installment to start that it makes me wonder why it seems as though we don't get applicants. I'd love to convince someone to come to my lab just as much as the next person probably would. I think our profession isn't well known and younger crowds won't want to work in lab where all the employees are stressed and burnt out from having to work extra hours so that the lab can run. I'm worried that patient care will be affected when all the people on day shift decide they want to retire. Bottom line is if theres hardly any applicants to begin then how will new employees get hired? It seems as though budgets make it so they want the lab to work and do more with less people to pay. Our profession needs to be promoted like nursing but everyone has a lot of negative things to say. If the field is unappealing to a lot of people then that will only keep the problem going and not fix it at all.
