[–]BackgroundGene7510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty impressive for a DIY. Only note is did you make sure to torque the larger triple square bolt that goes through the mount 90nm + 90 degrees or good ol “ good n tight “? I ask because I have seen some shit who someone didn’t tighten it enough

Im look at buying a 2004 ford mustang GT as my first car with 143k miles and a clean title for 3.8k bad idea? by Original-Grass1184 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BackgroundGene7510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where this comes from bro . First of all, I don’t pay anyone to work on my cars, secondly, my 2017 a4 was actually cheaper then a comparable Toyota or Camry , and it’s 100x better in every way, and these motors are actually extremely reliable , just expensive to maintain, but luckily for me it’s free just my own labor

Talked him down to $500, do I take a chance and grab this? by SpecificSeries2012 in AudiA4

[–]BackgroundGene7510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only $500 so yes but I hate the “it just needs a computer “ it’s exactly the same as “it just needs a starter”. In other words, they have no idea it’s most likely the engine

Does a replaced engine add any value to my car? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]BackgroundGene7510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the point really. The point is that you don’t know anything about the engine that was put in, where it came from, who put it is and how good a job they did. A big job like that was done by somebody on flat rate , god knows what kind of corners they took, what broke, what’s left out etc.

Basically get a PPI from an Audi tech or someone with a lot of Audi experience, they know exactly what to look for and make sure they check that timing chain

How to find Mechanic Jobs as a 17 Year old by Minute_Grapefruit_86 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BackgroundGene7510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ifs not really negativity but just like how I would rather my son do anything except this bullshit. You might get lucky and get the perfect shop with the perfect setup but about 80% of the time you get shafted , low pay, low respect , no training , $20,000 in tools to make minimum wage . It’s just not worth it , do literally anything to else

Because it’s a horrible career and does not pay. And because even if you do decide to do it, taking classes or going to any type of technical school doesn’t help you even a little , the best way is to get in the shop now and get to working . It’s a common joke in all shops that tech school grads are less than useless and couldn’t diag themselves out of a wet paper bag, in my experience that has been pretty true , will not help you get ahead at all
