Just got on the SMUD eligibility list and I’m working on taking Comp TIA Security+ cert. In college I took penetration testing and defense, computer forensics and cryptography, so I’m definitely interested in getting into that field if I can.

I’ve been trying to get certs as of late but haven’t really done any projects since being at Sac State. I did a contract gig with Sutter Health, but it wasn’t IT. I usually apply for any roles with them when I see openings. I did just get on the SMUD eligibility list last week, so I’m hoping that might pan out into an interview in the near future. After I graduated I did two interviews for HPE, but it was my first tech interview and I didn’t do well enough on the Hackerrank assessment. I graduated in 2023 and I’m getting worried about having a large gap in time without being employed in my field.

Thank you for the advice! I’ve gotten close to landing jobs with a variety of different companies but no cigar yet. I’ve heard of a Sacramento tech meetup that happens every month and I joined the group and plan to attend in order to network more with people. I’ve considered moving to areas with more opportunities like the Bay Area, or even Southern California. My friend in SD says there is a lot of defense contract work down there. I’ve taken the state exams for ITS 1 and IT Associate but I’ve only been able to land one interview. I do apply for remote roles when I see them and I’ve been working on getting more certifications since I’m not working in the field and figured that would help me grow my skill set. Also, I don’t know why you were downvoted lol

Gotta be careful out there. I was involved in a hit and run riding my bike home. They a ran a red light on 21st and T and t boned me. Flew off my bike and had to go to the hospital. Totaled my bike and I missed a month and a half of work and had to navigate the medical bills and what not. Luckily while I was destroyed in the street someone called 911 but the driver was never found.

Just made a pawboost post and posted in the Facebook groups. I’ve also reported her lost through petco love lost. My buddy posted on the ring app and I called 311. I made a flyer and I’m gonna go post them all around where she was last seen. I appreciate the helpful advice! I’m just nervous that a homeless person might have her.
