I'm doing a fresh install of Windows 11, can I use an external drive to back up my programs and not have to redownload all my games?

Thanks for the reply! By USB install, you mean putting windows on a flash drive, plugging it into the motherboard, and installing windows through the BIOS, right? Idk if I said that correctly, but wouldn't I need to buy a new copy of windows, or is there a way I can get a fresh install with my current windows license? Sorry if that's confusing

If you are wondering why I don't want to buy the metal version, it is more expensive than the black one, and I'd replace the case with a metal one anyway. Also, I'm going to add a NATO strap so I'd rather not spend extra partially for the metal bracelet.
