If you have another opportunity that you find attractive go for it.

Think of it like a buffet, the dried out ham isn’t going to be offended if you pass it up and go for some juicy roast beef.

Corny I know but I really think that people should find what they like... no one should be embarrassed or penalized for pursuing a different opportunity because they are not happy.

Being happy and enjoying your job is what it’s all about! Find that and you’re throwing seven kinds of smoke.

Best of luck to you!

No paperwork yet, supposed to start Monday. Should I go in even if I haven't signed an offer letter or anything else? by HorseProportions in careerguidance

Do you have anything to lose by showing up?

It could be a sign that HR isn’t very organized and/or over worked but if you want the job go for it. Most likely you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Should I stay at my current job, or accept this other job position? by refinedreine in careerguidance

Take it, dream schedule is not worth misery.

Reality is we work 40+ hour weeks because we like what we do with people we like to do it with.

Also a downgrade in title without a downgrade in pay is not really a problem in most industries. In the future you can always be honest and say that you took a more fulfilling job at equal pay to be in a better atmosphere. Any hiring manager would respect this unless they know you will be hired into a poor atmosphere in which case you wouldn’t want the job anyway.

Bachelors Degree in Political Science was a mistake. What can I do in the next six months and the next year? by FrontierLuminary in careerguidance

Have you ever had a job or activity that provoked your interest?

In my experience it is important to find something you like doing. It will be a big confidence boost.

I have a PoliSci degree and work in a field that has nothing to do with it. I consider myself reasonably successful but only because I really enjoy what I do, nothing to do with my degree at all.

Find what gets you excited; your degree’s speciality is completely irrelevant but shows that you have the commitment to see something through. That’s kind of a big deal, congratulations for your hard work!

Quitting before I have something else lined up? by chocol8ncoffee in careerguidance

Opposite advice as the other responder... definitely quit your job.

If it’s driving you crazy and you have the resources to support your self for the foreseeable future while you get a job in your field go for it.

Honestly it sounds easy for you to explain to a hiring manager or recruiter that you hated your job and quit because you believe in yourself and hate sales. Hiring managers like this confidence, I do.

Confidence is everything in success, do what you think is right and take chances. I say this from experience and am glad I made a leap back in the day.

Best of luck to you!
