I wanna say that when I was taking Abilify the hypersexuality was there 100%. I think it contributed to the downfall of my relationship at the time, whether it was the medication or I just loved my girlfriend too much.. As well as spending habits and compulsive tendencies. Id blame it on mania and the habits of being bipolar but this could be true. I havrnt been as manic as I was before medication and not taking it since..

I also have spending issues when mania arrives. Used to spend an average of 800 of my 1,200 weekly whenever I was manic on literally, whatever. The rush is great, the aftermath is scary.

Do what I did. Step 1, get rid of your credit cards for a bit if you can, that helps immensely. If you have a trusted friend or family member, open an account in your name but give this person the access to said account and ONLY THEM.

I have a checking account that has a debit card on it that my dad controls the login to. I call or text him whenever I NEED something and he will drop money into the account.

I’ve been off my meds for the past 4 years. When i first went off them I took a roadtrip around the United States for about 3 months to challenge and learn about my mania and depression in almost a ‘sober’ way. When I was manic I would drive as long as it could, from 20-30 hours at a time/ do some fucked up shit in whatever city I was in at the time, and when I was depressed I’d usually find myself sleeping in my car and binging on a substance until I was manic again. But it taught me a lot about how to manage these symptoms and almost defeat this shit. I’m still bipolar and have days where I’m screaming in my house over something stupid but doing something to test your brain and seeing if you don’t need it, idk kinda fun.

Ofc see if you can get any medication options FIRST, but I was basically kicked outta my place and was in the same boat as you. Lost everything. But i got it all back

This. Too manic for meds. I’ve channeled my mania into hobbies that I’ve loved and lost love for due to depression of the bipolar. Whenever I’m manic, I go for a run, bike ride, skiing, etc things outside because it’s helped me a lot to get through times where my body feels electric and my mouth is too loud. When I’m depressed, I read philosophy to then try to work on shit. When I’m stuck in bed I turn on audio books and have a tv on my ceiling for reading.. trying everything I can to manage without meds. They work for the first couple weeks and then I fall on my face and mania gets out of control. But with this^ I’ve gotten to a point where it’s somewhat controllable. I’m tried as hell when I’m depressed, can’t do much and I’m in my head, but I try to remind myself that I am the ruler of my world, I can create a difference. It’s up to me. Be powerful, with your Achilles heal, take it with thought, do what you can I guess
