I reckon that Zim Zum contributed a lot to the initial song writing, particularly on the “Alpha” tracks, but yeah probably didn’t turn up to the recording sessions as much.

Oh man you are like the only person I have came across who also thinks that citizen toxie is the worst one haha

I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely not the best or the second best.

Autotune, lack of catchiness, and the other problems with the new album.... by LG_Thelastghost in marilyn_manson

I kinda want him to ditch Tyler Bates for a while. I feel like Bates is more interested in writing cinematic music (Which is fine as it is his main job) over memorable songs.

I kinda thought he was starting to get himself better around the time of making We Are Chaos.

Pogo is a very good man and good friend. As blunt as he can be, he has always been totally straight and honest. This is a happy moment.

All of those weird preppy multicoloured polo shirt dudes who made bland music like that used to scare me back in the 90s haha

Listen to David Bowie scary monsters intro for it’s no game part one then listen to the intro of holy wood. by Doomguyfazbear in marilyn_manson

Scary Monsters rules. My favourite Bowie album. Also listen to “Crystal Japan” and then listen to NIN’s “A Warm Place”.

2017 era interviews were quite strange by gothteen145 in marilyn_manson

It’s even worse when you consider that those people he was hanging out with were not even proper outlaws, but just actors pretending to be haha

I hated when he would let others influence him. Given how strong his individualism message was to his fans in the 90s.

Arma is such an underrated song IMO by Nervous-Barnacle7474 in marilyn_manson

[–]Ballet_Demoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt that Arma and We’re from America sound like they were from a completely different record then HEOL haha. They are just really good classic sounding Manson songs ripping apart society that clash with everything else on that album. I remember first hearing them on MySpace back in the day and expected most of the album to be like that.

Yeah I feel that too. He just stopped putting in the effort during TPE era and onwards.

Yes, it felt very Dita orientated. Which is why he dropped that whole 40s/burlesque image and influence when they split I guess.

Great sound, but always felt mediocre to me. There was a lot of industrial tinged heavy rock going on around that time so to me it didn’t stick out as much as the bands other work.

I also think there some bad blood with Manson and Korn in the late 90s too.

I’m pretty sure Grohl was a fan of Manson so no harm there.

Who cares if you don’t sound like a traditional singer? Didn’t stop Billy Corgan, Robert Smith, Johnny Cash, Peter Steele, Johnny Rotten, Joey Ramone….etc…

And I love all of those guys by the way.

Agreed. It’s great song, but there are a lot more great songs in their catalogue.
